Yesterday, we had our end of year Cheshire School of Music student concert! A memory popped up in my personal Facebook Profile from 2020, showing me wearing a mask, and being sad that we couldn't have an in-person concert so the kids could get some closure for their hard work over the school year.

Despite my moaning or extra things on the to-do list, I'm so very thankful that the students had a chance to share what they've been working on, and experience the joy of others sharing as well!

Congrats to my students who performed yesterday, and congrats to those who sat exams this term, and congrats to those who achieved a new level of enjoyment in their musical journey!

As an independent business owner, I wear many, many hats!!
Today’s literal hat is rather rain resistant for our lovely British summer!

In two of my businesses, I wear all the hats. It can be overwhelming.

In one of my businesses, I get to outsource almost all of the hats to an infrastructure that is already in place! It makes for an incredibly streamlined organisation!

My dad has this saying: “Every day’s a holiday; Every meal’s a banquet.
When I was very young, I didn’t know what it meant. But now I know it is gratitude, attitude, and creating our own reality.
Yesterday we were in Llandudno, meeting up with Australian relatives. We were all exhausted, several had colds, but the day was definitely a holiday and included two “banquets”!! One with a gorgeous view. Wouldn’t trade it for the world.

It’s a story of not giving up. It’s a story of unifying rather than dividing.

My previous career was in astronomical observatory support. I was a telescope operator at the Submillimeter Array. Many of my colleagues and friends were involved in this amazing achievement in some capacity. Truly I got a bit emotional today going through some of the press releases, because suddenly the world is interested to hear from all my lovely science friends. It’s so satisfying to see them all shining.

This result has been a long time coming. I was assisting to take data for the precursor to this project over a decade ago, and the scientists who I hosted at the observatory kept going. They didn’t quit and now look at their achievements!!
It was a good reminder to me of what can happen when people don’t give up!

Scientists of the Event Horizon Telescope have obtained the first image of a black hole, using observations of the center of the galaxy M87. The image shows a bright ring formed as light bends in the intense gravity around a black hole that is 6.5 billion times more massive than the Sun. This long-sought image provides the strongest evidence to date for the existence of supermassive black holes and opens a new window onto the study of black holes, their event horizons, and gravity.
