Join .vibes at Chiddinglye Estate, West Hoathly, West Sussex on Saturday 29th June for a day of Primitve and Modern Bushcraft and Survival Instruction. Learn skills to take into the wild and share with your kids on camping trips. Tim will start the session with a mindfulness walk through the ancient woodland as we head to camp where you will start your experience with a safety briefing and learn how to use a knife and saw. We will then head round to Philpots Promontory, where our Mesolithic primitve experience with James will begin. You will learn primitve firelighting in the form of bowdrill and flint and steel, then you will prepare a pigeon for cooking using flint tools. Your instructors will cook up a pigeon pasta dish for lunch. You will have plenty of opportunity to ask James questions about Primitve life and skills.

After lunch we will leap ahead to modern day in our main camp where you will join Sean our Survival skills instructor and CBRN specialist. Sean will teach you how to set up a tarp for shelter in 4 configurations to suit the situation you are in, before taking you through an in depth lesson in how to find, filter and purify water with multiple methods. The final lesson will cover modern approaches to fire.

The day finishes with our challenge ‘Trial by Fire’ where you will test your skills and resolve by lighting and maintaining fire to boil your own cup of water.

Our next Home Education session is Monday 10th June 10:30 - 12:30 £15 per child. Book now via linden-outdoorsman.com for 2 hours of exploring the wonderful natural environment around my teaching camp on the Chiddinglye Estate Near East Grinstead West Sussex. The children will learn skills in bushcraft but also essential life skills such as listening, sharing, patience, perseverance all of which help develop their resilience, everything we do is also linked to natural history, science and geography. Most importantly it is fun and engaging!

I’ve been very quiet because I’m super busy. Prepping for bushcraft show and trying to keep on top of shop orders and too, both of which are cleaning me out as quick as I can make stock. I do hope I’ll actually have stuff to bring with me on friday to set up with.

So far I’ve made 3 wax cotton ponchos, a winch cover, a wool poncho, a wool blanket, 3 sit mats and 4 Sami bags and that’s just to fulfill some of the Etsy orders.
