Unlock Your Olympic Potential: Discover the benefits of Osteopathy
With the Olympics starting tomorrow, we can all look forward to witnessing some amazing sporting prowess.
But did you know that some of the world’s best athletes and sports people regularly have osteopathy for their own health care?
Gold medallists and top prize winners like Usain Bolt, Serena Williams, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic have all credited osteopathy with helping them overcome injuries and improve their performances.
Just like Olympic athletes rely on osteopathy to keep them at the top of their game, regular visits to your osteopath can help you reach your peak performance in your chosen sport or hobby, and in life in general.
Osteopathy focuses on optimising your body’s movement, and how well it functions, both of which are essential for excelling in any physical activity whether that is playing sports or simply mowing the lawn!
By addressing imbalances, releasing tension, and promoting optimal movement patterns, osteopathy may help your athletic performance and prevent injuries.
Whether you’re a weekend golfer, a professional athlete, or simply someone who enjoys staying active, incorporating osteopathy into your wellness routine can be a game-changer.
Imagine feeling more agile, stronger, and more resilient as you pursue your fitness goals and conquer new challenges.
So, as we witness the incredible feats of strength, agility, power and determination during the upcoming Olympics, let’s stay inspired to achieve gold-medal health in our own lives.
With the support and expertise of me - your knowledgeable osteopath! - you can break through limitations and enjoy a life filled with good health and vitality.

If there was one suggestion I could make to you today, it is what could you do today to spread love, kindness and empathy into the world?
It can sometimes seem like there is so much hatred, anger and disconnection in the world. I am sure you have seen the news coming out of the USA and the horror of gun crime.
And it may seem like we can't do anything to overcome that.
But I believe we can, in our own small way.
By showing kindness, empathy and love to our fellow humans.
This doesn't mean we have to agree with their beliefs or political views.
If we lead by example, if we show kindness to others, in our own way we are turning the tide of hatred to empathy and love.
By consistently doing this, by making it just part of who we are and what we do, I believe love, kindness and empathy will win the day.
So today, what little things can you do to bring more love, kindness and empathy into your world and the world around you?
Tell your family you love them, smile and be kind to a stranger, don't respond to an unkind comment or post on social media with the same unkindness.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
When Your Leg Pain is Actually Coming from Your Back!
Have you ever felt pain in a specific part of your body, only to learn that the real cause was somewhere else entirely?
This puzzling phenomenon is called referred pain, and it’s an experience that can leave many of us scratching our heads.
To make this a little clearer, let’s dive into a typical scenario: Imagine you’re suffering from persistent leg pain.
You feel a nagging ache every time you walk or even while resting. After trying various remedies to target your leg, you decide it’s time to see your osteopath - that's me!
To your surprise, I tell you the source of your pain isn’t in your leg at all, but in your back!
So, how does this happen?
Here’s a straightforward explanation: Referred pain occurs when a problem in one part of your body sends signals to a different area.
For example, an issue in your back, such as a damaged disc, irritates nerves that extend down into your legs.
Your nervous system gets a bit mixed up, allowing the sensation of pain to travel from your back to your leg. This mix-up happens because the nerves that carry pain signals from your back and leg enter your spinal cord at the same location, confusing your brain about where the trouble really is.
This can be a bit tricky because it means that treating the symptom (leg pain) directly won’t solve the underlying problem (back issue).
Understanding referred pain is crucial for effective treatment. By addressing the real source of the problem, you will get relief more quickly and prevent further discomfort.
That’s why it’s a really great idea to book in to see me!
Osteopaths are highly trained to not just treat your symptoms, but to get to the root cause of your problem and therefore get a proper resolution to your pain.
We know the right tests to do to make sure I come up with the right diagnosis and when treatment is appropriate, or when you might need to be referred for other tests like an xray or a scan.
The key takeaway? Pain isn’t always what it seems. If you’re experiencing unexplained pain, consider that it might be referred pain. Your body works in mysterious ways, but with the right knowledge, experienced osteopaths like me can uncover and treat the real sources of discomfort.

Happy Father’s Day!
As we remember all fathers everywhere, with us in person or in spirit, let’s take a moment to say thank you for all they do or did.
This is the 3rd Father’s Day since I lost my Dad to Alzheimer’s disease.
I continue to raise awareness about this devastating disease, sharing the science around prevention, teaching women how to reduce their risk, speaking locally in my community and online to guide others towards looking after their own brain health.
We all miss him, but I know he would be proud of my mission.
I'm at it again!
I am doing another live, in person Masterclass and I would LOVE for you to come along!
You might be thinking, "But wait, isn't she an osteopath and she's doing less hands-on treatment?" Trust me, I'm working harder than ever!
So although I doing less hands on work, I am still incredibly passionate about health and guiding people towards better health.
My mission is to guide women over 40 to learn the strategies and techniques to look after their brain health, shield their brains from damage as they get older, so they can live a vibrant, joyful life doing the things they love with the people they love.
The next Masterclass is coming soon, Saturday 22 June at 10am in Prestbury Village Hall.
Why do you need to come?
Because Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease are now the major causes of death for women in the UK, and the projected figures for how many women will be affected is scary.
I would love to show you how you can look after your own brain health, keep a clear, sharp mind and live a vibrant life.

My health tip for today - drink more water! Most people are chronically dehydrated and water is needed for so many of our organs to work optimally.
Quick tip - If you have a cup of tea or coffee, have a glass of water afterwards to counteract the dehydrating effects of it.
