How has a whole year has passed since I first got a glimpse of Danielle looking totally sassy in her wedding day two piece from & customised version of my MIA headpiece?!!!

When Danielle first got in contact it was my MIA crystal headband that had caught her eye, but she was keen to see the design reimagined using black crystals rather than the more traditional clear.

We discussed how we could use the black crystals but somehow make sure the headpiece didn’t then become lost in Danielle’s dark hair.

Having worked up a couple of options Danielle chose to have clear crystals run alongside the black crystals for a chic glow up of the original design. Swipe along to see how this detail worked.

I absolutely adored that finished laid back, contemporary chic, bridal look 🖤

😊 Realising how politically literate my 24 year old son & his friends are made me happy for our future.

😊 Supporting my daughter who has SEN to take her first steps into a world after education & seeing her really enjoy it, made me extremely happy!!!

I’ll often ask you what you like to wear on a night out during your wedding accessory consultation with me, or who your style icon is, because those answers are basically you dropping your style preferences all over the show! It just takes an accessory designer like me to pick up those clues to guide you towards accessories that will make your heart sing ♥️

Gorgeous images featuring my HARLOW Crown! Delighted that Natalie Parker Photography decided to grab a few of us at the end of Torr Vale Mills wedding open day to grab these shots 😍

A day spent at the V&A is a good day!!! 😍

We were literally spinning with excitement at the sensory overload of the DIVA exhibition!

This had everything for me! Jaw dropping, no holds barred design. Iconic, recognisable outfits. A stunning sound track that featured Kate Bush, Beyonce, Madonna, PJ Harvey, Ella Fitzgerald, Tina Turner, Cher, Prince, Gaga… Tales of female empowerment through dressing up (could this be any more me?!) I honestly could’ve turned on my heel to do it all again the moment we were finished!

Also, to take a whole day to step away from work & my caring role, to just stare at beautiful things…and that includes peering into the £11.5 million apartments of South Kensington, wandering aimlessly with a good friend around Covent Garden, and finishing with a pint of pale ale in a traditional London pub, was just really very good for the soul ☺️

What did I learn?

♥️ That stepping away from the day to day to feed the soul with design inspiration is ridiculously relaxing & liberating.

♥️ That throughout history, women, and increasingly men, trans & non-binary people, have used dressing up as a way to send messages about who they are to the outside world.

♥️ That people will always remember an iconic outfit, but never a grey hoodie 😂

♥️ That getting dressed up can do many things…it can bring joy to yourself, it’s a way to externally express without words who you are, a way to support a cause, and a way to make others gasp and remember you and your outfit forever!!!

The DIVA exhibition is on at Victoria and Albert Museum until the end of April 2024. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
