Little Green Parties
Love Parties? Hate Waste? Working as an event manager for over twenty years I have seen just how m
I made this for Boris.
Generally I try not to bring politics into our posts as our ethos is about positive action and parties are meant to be fun.
When the first lockdown happened we packed away our party kits. Many of those who run party kits went to work as they are key workers. Many didn’t have adequate PPE. Many isolated from their families. Many made sacrifices to keep others safe.
We didn’t support gatherings which were not held within the rules. So no, Boris wouldn’t have been able to hire a party kit in May 2020.

Check out this post from Frome Eco Party Kit. Balloon arches look great but cause so much waste. Try something else. I even have bunting included in all my basic kits which is brilliantly effective in adding colour to a party.
| ZERO WASTE WEEK - BALLOONS |
Now I am very aware that it's very popular at the moment to have balloon arches to celebrate life events. And I have to admit, they do look very effective. But is a few hours at a party really worth decades of waste sat around and endangering the earth and wildlife? Not to mention that helium is a scarce resource that we could really do without using up for only a few hours.
Going for alternatives that can be reused many times or even passed down to further generations can be just as effective but much better for the planet.
Decoration alternatives are:
- Paper lanterns (like in the picture)
- Fabric bunting (homemade or bought can be reused for years, just like the ones in our kits)
- Paper fans and pom poms
- Drapes of material
- Flags
And for kids parties they're often used for the kids to play with, so the alternatives for that is:
- bubble machine, loads of fun chasing but no plastic to go to the bin
- Beach balls, any left over from summers can be used as a longer-lasting option, just as much fun to throw around. Then if popped send to Wyatt & Jack who will repurpose them into bags!
Must admit I have been rather slow at getting my party kit back up and running since we were allowed to all get together again. I feel now is the right time and so I am relaunching my pastel and bright coloured kits. I will bombard you with more photos but in the mean time please see below my price list and please do get in touch if you would like to book a party kit in the SL6 area. Emma x

Whilst plastic is not ideal there isn’t really a perfect solution currently.
PLASTIC? 🤔
Many of the party kits in our network use plastic tableware.
It’s light, durable, affordable and colourful. 🌈
It is designed to be used again and again (and again!) ♻️
Some kits contain preloved items, giving plastic items a second life. 💚
Yes, it could be better. Most is still made from fossil fuels and could still one day become plastic pollution.
But every time a party kit is used it helps to save thousands of non-recyclable items from landfill.
We believe that any reusable item is better than the alternative single-use, and we‘re doing our best to consider what happens to items at end-of-life.
So much in our boxes! Plates, bowls, cups, jugs, trays, serving wear, tablecloths, cake stands, bunting, banners .... we have everything you need for your next party!
How many of us or our children can answer this!?
Pass the Parcel bags coming soon! No more hours spent wrapping!
We even have decorations! Why not use some of our reusable decorations. We have plenty for hire as well as an amnesty box you can rummage through to help with themed events.
It is so cold outside but everywhere I look there are signs of Spring around. And talking of Spring, we are already taking bookings for March, including Easter parties and grown ups hosting rugby viewings!
