Today, one of our crew members, Bernice, laid some beautiful sunflowers at Green Park, to pay our respects to HM Queen Elizabeth II.

She kindly added a message from herself and Kent Central.

We thank her for her many years of devoted service. May she rest peacefully.

This week, a handful of our crew members SECURED their spot on a secure training course!

The group, mentored by their tutor Rakeem, were taught how to transfer mental health patients safely and effectively with numerous techniques.

The team were put through their paces and will now be placed on the shadowing phase of their training programme.

Well done everyone! Amazing work! 🚑

APPRECIATION

Here at KCAS, we really do think our crews are the best around. Their compassion and care towards our patients and their crew mates is absolutely second to none, along with their dedication to their years of service here at Kent Central.

Therefore we think a small piece of appreciation is the least we can do for their years of hard work.

So, from next week, our crew members will be receiving a 1 year, 3 year or 5 year certificate of appreciation along with a commemorative badge to thank them for their years of service.

We are so looking forward to giving these to our crew members. We hope they love them too!

Our second June employee of the month awards go to Vicky & Rachael.

Vicky and Rachael were asked to assist with the huge task of moving 6 patients from a hospice to a new care home whilst the hospice was having some building work done to it.

Vicky & Rachael were commended for their professionalism, sensitivity and their humour towards the patients. Ultimately making what could have been a very stressful day, as smooth as possible for both patients and hospice staff.

Rachael & Vicky have both been requested by the hospice staff to help return the patients home in 18 months time, once the hospice building work is complete.

Well done ladies! Incredible work from the both of you. 💚

Employee of the month - June 2022

This month, we are celebrating just some of our fantastic crew members who have gone above and beyond their duty here at KCAS.

We are ending the week on two gentlemen who have exceeded themselves in the month of June. Here are their stories.

Ryan was not even one week into his newly passed FREC 3 qualification when, what should have been a very normal, routined patient transfer, turned into a critical emergency within a few short seconds.

The patient whilst in transfer developed a catastrophic bleed to which Ryan acted promptly, calmly and with absolutely no hesitation to resolve the issue. After a few minutes, the bleed was well under control thanks to Ryan’s quick thinking and professionalism.

When asked by our control if Ryan was ok, Ryan replied “Its all part of the job” and continued on with his day. Absolutely amazing work Ryan!!

Paul (and Dave) were on their way to attend another patient when they spotted a young lady standing on the edge of a bridge. Paul and Dave quickly stopped the ambulance to go and help, ultimately saving the young woman’s life.

Paul & Dave then took the patient to the closest hospital where Paul left his personal number with an A&E nurse to be able to keep in touch with the patient, via the nurse.
The patient personally requested that the nurse send Paul a message, sharing how Paul & Dave have saved her life.

Incredible work from the both of you. All of KCAS are so proud.

We will be sharing more employee of the month’s later next week. So watch this space!

Last weekend, 2 members of our team, Andy and Terry, assisted the team at CodeBlue.ie to provide medical cover for a couple of concerts that were happening over at the Hop Farm in Kent.

It was a pleasure to attend alongside such a great team. We look forward to working with you guys again in the near future.

A beautiful day here at Kent Central.

All our ambulances are checked over every morning to make sure they’re all ready for a full day ahead.

To our crews, make sure you stay cool and hydrated today. It’s going to be a hot one! ☀️

Employee of the month!

In the month of May, we had 6 amazing crew members go above and beyond their duty of care and were rightly awarded Employee Of The Month!

Ian & Bobby for their fantastic work mentoring newly qualified FREC 3 staff. The crews that were mentored by Ian & Bobby had nothing but positive feedback and said they valued their time with them immensely. We now have some confident crew members that are able to go out on a HDU shift very happily! Well done Ian & Bobby!

Christal & Poppy for some amazing feedback from a patient the ladies filed safeguarding report for. Not only was the patient overjoyed with Christal & Poppy’s care and compassion, but the ladies also received praise from the manager of a care home they took the patient to, stating how compassionate and professional they both were. Amazing work Christal & Poppy!

And finally, Dillon & Dion for their sincere compassion and care when helping a very sick patient be seen and attended to as quickly and as comfortably as possible. The patient was told they would have a significant wait for their appointment and the only option was to be seated and wait. Knowing the patient’s needs, Dillon and Dion took it upon themselves to find the patient a bed or failing that, ensured the patient was seen sooner than planned. The crew then called control to see if they could wait for the patient to ensure a safe journey home.
With thanks to Dillon and Dion’s compassion and care, the patient was seen quickly and was able to return to the comfort of his bed in a short space of time. Incredible work Dillon & Dion!

These people are just some of the incredible staff members we have here at Kent Central. When we say we’re proud of our crews, we really are.

Well done to all Employee of the Month’s for May!

Recognition towards our crews!

Last month, KCAS devised an ’Employee Of The Month’ awards system.

We want to recognise our incredible crew members where we can. Therefore, an employee of the month award system was created to give back to certain crew members who have gone above and beyond their duty during the month.

This month we are recognising not 1, but 5 amazing crew members for their hard work & dedication throughout the month of April.

Well done to Francesca Friedrich, Ben Walker, Yasmin Holloway, Carolynne Clive and Andy Powell.

They have all received an ‘Employee Of The Month’ certificate and a £25 Amazon voucher.

Well done to everyone!

Thank you 💛

A few weeks back, 2 of our crew members headed out to the border of Poland with donations for Ukrainian citizens. Since their return, KCAS crew’s have been collecting a huge amount of supplies ready for another donation.

This is just one of our ambulances today. Absolutely filled to the brim ready to give more donations to those desperately in need.

Well done to everyone at KCAS who has donated. We’re incredibly proud of you all.

A very special recruit!

One of our crew members, Tianna, asked if her daughter, Ella-rose, could have her very own KCAS uniform as today was a very special day at Ella-rose’s school!

Ella-rose was asked to dress up as ‘someone who helps’ for the Alice’s Arc Cancer Charity and of course Ella-rose dressed up as her mum!

We think she would make a perfect fit here at KCAS, don’t you? 🚑

Thank you Tianna for such a sweet picture!

On national day of reflection, we reflect back 2 years ago, when the Prime Minister sent the whole country into a national lockdown due to a virus that was circulating and tragically killing the ones we loved. We had to keep each other safe, consider the vulnerable and only go out if it was absolutely necessary.

Kent Central’s crews and office team were called in by their hundreds to assist with the crisis. Hospitals were in dire need of help, moving patients who contracted Covid-19 to other hospitals that had the capacity and to get that patient the medical help they desperately required to recover from this vicious virus.

Those who became unemployed due to the pandemic came to us in their hundreds, desperately wanting to help. Some of those are still with us today!

We cannot thank our crews enough for the amount of blood, sweat and tears they shed over the pandemic. The compassion, dedication, kindness and care that was continuously shining throughout, even though the pandemic was an immensely dark place for all.

We want you to wear your Covid Response pin with pride. Be proud of the incredible service you provided. Be proud to be the incredible people you are.

Although the virus is still with us, the pandemic showed us all that sticking together to protect the ones we love, we are stronger than the virus ever could be.

Together we are stronger.

💙

A huge thank you to Handy Prints for creating such a beautifully presented card and pin. The quality is unmatched.

A KCAS Wedding! 💙

Patrick & Lindsay first met here at KCAS.. and today was their wedding day!

A huge congratulations to you both. KCAS wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

Photos from Craig Pearson's post 14/03/2022

An update from Craig.

Craig & Gary reached the Poland border this morning and have been handing out sweets to children, along with baby supplies to parents who are in desperate need of help.

Gary is due to head back to the border next week with more supplies. KCAS would like to help with that donation.

Gary has expressed that the people of Ukraine are in desperate need of baby supplies and phone charges and power banks.

If you would like to donate anything at all, Kent Central Ambulance Service will be taking donations in for Gary to take next week.

Once again, we cannot express how proud we are of these gentlemen. Well done to you both.
