As promised earlier today, here is a preview of the beers we’ll be serving on the beer festival in September

Only just over three weeks to go until the Goldhanger Gala weekend onn14th and 15th September!

Watch out later today for the list of extra beers and ciders that will be available at our beer festival.

Come along on Wednesday 24th July and see Chelmsford Morris performing from 8.00pm.

Come and try our five fantastic real ales including our current guest beer ‘Bishop Nick Divine’ 5.1%, a dark amber beer featuring spice, nuttiness and caramel.

What a lovely day. It’s been so lovely to see so many people visiting the open gardens and our plant sale.

Goldhanger open Gardens is this Saturday 1st June from 11.00 to 5.00

The Chequers will be open from 10.00 for teas, coffees, soft drinks, cakes and ice creams

There will also be a plant stall outside the front of the pub with a large selection of plants available

Don’t forget, we have live music today. Ash Hawes playing live from 4.00

Bank Holiday guest ales available, Mauldon’s White Adder 5.3% (Long Melford) and George’s Cockleboats Best Bitter 4.0% (Great Wakering)

We’ll also be serving hot sausage rolls and pasties from 3.30

There are a few beers from the beer festival still available and still in top condition. They are now all at £2.00 a pint - when they’re gone, they’re gone!

Our beer tent is open with loads of fantastic ales and ciders. Why not try a pint of ‘Bearded Lady’ from Colchester brewery or ‘Crafty Stoat’ from Wibblers brewery.

The BBQ is fired up and going.

We have a fantastic guest beer this weekend from Nethergate Brewery in the Stour Valley - Old Growler! A creamy, complex, satisfying champion porter with lots of chocolate & fruit on the palate (5%)

The Chequers Inn Gala Weekend - Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd September 2023.

There will be a Goldhanger Classic Car Club meet in our car park for all to see on Saturday.

Come and visit our beer and cider festival on all weekend. There will be ten real ales in addition to our usual range and several ciders.

Ice creams, cakes, coffees and snacks available all weekend.

There's a BBQ at the front of the pub from 11.00 on Saturday.

Live music in the garden! Beyond Belief playing from 3.15 on Saturday and Max Wildwood playing from 4.00 on Sunday.

There are other activities going on around the village over the weekend.
