🌟 Coping with Anxiety🌟

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, with the theme for the year being centred on anxiety awareness. Anxiety is a normal human emotion that affects us all at times, but for some it can seriously impact their quality of life.

Next time you are feeling anxious, try some of these helpful strategies to relieve anxiety symptoms:

1️⃣ Breathe deeply: Try the box breath technique – inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, and hold for 4. It can calm your mind. ✨

2️⃣ Exercise regularly: Just 10-15 minutes of movement can make a big difference. Aim for 30 minutes of exercise, 3-5 days a week. 🏋️‍♀️

3️⃣ Prioritize sleep: Establish a bedtime routine and try the box breath technique to quiet your mind before sleep. Consistent sleep patterns are crucial. 😴

4️⃣ Spend time outdoors: Studies show that being outside can alleviate anxiety. Take a 30-minute morning walk to enjoy natural light and boost your mood. 🌳

5️⃣ Eat well: Focus on a balanced diet. Aim for 5 servings of fruits and veggies, enough protein, whole grains, and stay hydrated with 2 liters of water daily. 🍎🥦

6️⃣ Connect with others: Reach out to friends and family. Human connection is vital for mental well-being. Share your feelings and discover shared experiences. 🤝

7️⃣ Seek professional help: If anxiety persists, speak to your GP. They can provide resources, talk therapies, lifestyle changes, or medication if needed. Don't hesitate to seek help.💙

Remember, you're not alone. Let's support one another on the journey to better mental health. This week and every week.💚

🏋️‍♀️Don't let gym-timidation hold you back from reaching your fitness goals👇

We get it – the thought of working out in a crowded gym or trying new equipment can be overwhelming. You see the weights area and the gym-timidation hits, so you hop on the treadmill...

But trust us, everyone is here to work on themselves, not to compare to others!

👉 First things first, remember that everyone in the gym is there for the same reason – to improve their health and fitness. So don't worry about how you look or what others might think – focus on yourself and your own progress. Everyone started somewhere!

👉 Secondly, start small and work your way up. Begin with simple exercises that you're comfortable with and gradually increase the intensity or try new equipment. Don't be scared to ask one of our fitness advisors or PTs for a few pointers!

👉 You can also consider working out with a friend or hiring a personal trainer to help build your confidence and guide you through the workout.

👉 Finally, keep in mind that the benefits of exercise far outweigh any temporary discomfort or awkwardness you might feel at the gym. Regular exercise can improve your physical and mental health, boost your energy levels, and help you feel more confident and accomplished. The more you make working out a pattern, the easier it becomes physically AND mentally!

Did you know that 74% of people in the UK reported feeling so stressed that they couldn't sleep at some point in the last year?

April is Stress Awareness Month, a time to talk about stress, how it impacts our mental and physical wellbeing, and how best to manage it. The initiative was started by the Health Resource Network in the United States with the aim of making conversations about stress and stress management more transparent.

What's the ideal temperature for a kick around?⚽️

According to historical data, the optimal temperature for goal scoring at the World Cup is 12.8°C! However, the team here are settled on around 14°C as being the sweet spot for a game where you aren't frozen but also don't feel the effect of being too hot☀️

(this isn't a post to promote our pitch bookings, although this evening is set to be 12ish degrees...🤫)

HAPPY EASTER!🐣

We hope you celebrate well and enjoy an Easter Egg or two! We wanted to remind you that regardless of how much chocolate you consume over the next few days, your fitness goals and journey are a marathon, not a sprint!

If you happen to overindulge (today or on any special occasion), here are a few things to consider🤔

Things you shouldn't do:
❌Massively restrict your calories over the week
❌Do endless cardio to outrun the chocolate binge
❌Feel guilty

What you SHOULD do:
✅Get back on track with your regular workouts, right where you left off
✅Fuel your body with healthy food
✅Be kind to yourself

It can be good for your mind, body and soul to have a cheat meal or day every once in a while.

April 7th is World Health Day!

The theme for this year is Health For All, which emphasizes the need for everyone, regardless of where they live or their social and economic status, to have access to high-quality health care.

As the World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates its 75th anniversary, we consider the progress that has been made and the work that still needs to be done to make healthcare and wellbeing a priority for all.

Today is National Walking Day!

Just some of the benefits of getting your daily steps in include:
Better heart health❤
Improved mental health and clarity🧠
Higher active calorie count for the day💪
Lower chance of food cravings, particularly sugar cravings🍨
A healthier planet🌎

Why not try walking to the gym today if you live close enough, or even popping for a short stroll on your lunch break!

Could you be one of our next LSF Athletes?🏋️‍♀️🤸‍♂️🏊‍♀️

If you train at one of our clubs and also compete in a recognised sport at a competitive level, the answer is yes! We understand how quickly the cost for kit, hotels, travelling and membership fees can add up, which is why we want to help you in any way we can! To assist with this, The Gordon Hall Memorial Fund was founded!

The Gordon Hall Memorial Fund was set up in memory of our previous Managing Director, Gordon, who sadly passed away in 2019. Supporting up and coming athletes and sportspeople was something Gordon was passionate about, and by expanding our roster of LSF Athletes we hope to continue preserving his legacy.

Drop us a message for more info on how we can help you out❤
