Remapping is a way to enhance the power or fuel economy or even both of the vehicles Ecu by safely
altering some of the settings.

An ECU is an Engine Control Unit which is considered the ‘brain of the car’. As standard it would come with default settings set by the manufacturer to conform with regulations across the globe. These settings can be overwritten in a process known as remapping/remap. The result is an increase in performance (dependent on the vehicle upto 50%) with horsepower and torque output gains, as well as economy. A remap can improve the fuel efficiency of your vehicle as the engine would not have to work as hard to achieve or maintain a set speed.

We do not change the hardware in your vehicle ecu, we only modify the operating parameters in the
ECU’s ‘map’. In most cases the map stored on the ECU’s can be accessed via the on-board diagnostics
port (OBD). In some newer models the ECU may have to be taken from the vehicle and the casing
opened up, the technician will then use a specialist tool to read the original map straight from the
processing chip rather than from the OBD socket.
The technician will then upload the original map to our remapping team who will then adjust the
parameters to maximize the performance, fuel economy or even a blend of both. Depending on the
vehicle and ECU type, the remapping process can take up to two hours we recommend you inform your
insurance company of any alterations made to your vehicle.
