Thanks to Part I Assistant and EDI Commitee member, Akeefah, for leading the ''Demystifying Equity Workshop" today.

The session covered the nine protected characteristics, intersectionality, the six pillars of EDI and Allyship. The interactive, activity based workshop got the whole team thinking over lunch.

Pioneer Place is a leisure-led regeneration project in the heart of Burnley which opened to the community in 2023. The development for Maple Grove Developments saw us transform a brownfield site into a 7-screen cinema and several bars and restaurants - boosting the town's cultural and social offer and revitalising its night time economy.

We recently commissioned the talented to visit the site and capture the scheme one year on and we’re excited to share the photos for the first time.

With it located opposite our Manchester office, it's been great to see our 58-66 King Street project progress and reach completion this month.

The project for DTZ Investors, saw us work alongside , , and Gateley Vinden to transform three buildings - one Grade II listed - into 24 one- and two-bedroom luxury apartments. The homes will be available to rent via Urban Bubble.

A massive congratulations to Sustainability Coordinator Freya Barber, who recently passed her qualifications to become a BREEAM Assessor!

Freya is a key member of our Sustainability Team and provides knowledge and support to the practice and external design teams to assist with BREEAM assessments and Retrofit commissions across our portfolio.

We provide ongoing training and development opportunities and aim to support all our team to achieve their potential, and Freya is another example of this! Well done Freya!

Following another year of growth, we’re excited to announce that we have opened a London office!

The new studio, located in The Smiths Building in Fitzrovia, will be a central base for our team as they continue to deliver our expanding workload for our growing network of clients across the south of England.

MD Andy Rainford said of the milestone "This new base, in a central location like Fitzrovia, places us in the heart of the city and close to many of our key clients and collaborators. We look forward to officially celebrating the launch of the new office very soon…”

Thank you to for our team's training sessions yesterday on 'Supporting Employees Through Menopause'. All of our Management Team underwent a 2 hour session focusing on myth busting, understanding signs and symptoms and creating a menopause friendly workplace.

We already have a range of health and wellbeing initiatives and policies in place and our understanding from the above will really help add to and improve these as our practice and team continue to evolve.

Join  for a Feminist Walking Tour of Manchester, as part of their  wider Inclusion Series, on 4th June 2024, led by us!
We'll start the day for breakfast and networking  offices before heading off for the tour. It will be a historical exploration and immersive experience that delves into the stories of Manchester's most influential women, shedding light on their contributions and the city's ongoing dialogue on gender issues and support systems.

We're delighted to share that our retrofit proposals for 312 homes in Newton Heath, Manchester have been approved.

Working closely with the client and Principal Contractor , we are acting as Architect and Retrofit Designer and have developed robust proposals which will help Croydon Drive become a 21st Century, model social housing estate. Each block will undergo a PAS2035 compliant Retrofit under the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund route to dramatically improve its energy efficiency and safety.

AEW supported Network Space to submit the planning application on behalf of landowner for the 115,000 sq ft multi-unit development at the Bird Hall Lane site. Delivering six light industrial units, from 10,000 to 40,000 sq ft, it is designed to target BREEAM Outstanding, a new benchmark for a scheme of this type, and align with Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standards.

Earlier this month, we were delighted to join client Radius and other project partners to celebrate it's opening. The 44,000 sqft, BREEAM Excellent office will be the new global HQ for Radius’ telematics division and benefits from a striking atrium and Star Wars inspired interior.

Earlier this year, we were delighted to achieve planning approval for our first Passivhaus project!

At Parkmount & Princedom, we are working with MSV to deliver 46 affordable homes across two sites in Harpurhey. The new developments form part of Manchester City Council’s low carbon affordable homes programme ‘Project 500’ and have been designed to Passivhaus classic standard. Our Certified Passivhaus Designer, Dan Sutton, is leading the project.

We’re marking National Apprenticeship Week by recognising members of our team who are boldly taking on less traditional routes into the industry.

Trainee Architectural Technicians Johan and Louis are currently part-way through their Degree Apprenticeships in Architectural Technology at . This course meets academic requirements for membership of the . Alongside them, Architectural Assistants Matt and Alice are at different points in their Architect (Integrated Degree) Apprenticeship at . This 4.5 year course sees them work towards the “title of architect, whilst enjoying the benefits of working in an architectural practice”. All four spend most of their week in the studio with time off to study and attend University.

It’s great to be supporting the next generation through innovative routes such as these, and we remain committed to their development both now and following their graduations!

We're still on a high from last week's NW Residential Property Awards where Sale West was announced as the winner in the Social Impact category!

The £50m masterplan is one of the largest regeneration projects in Manchester for over a decade. It includes the delivery of 263 new homes, enhancing the estate with a focus on green spaces and biodiversity and driving up the quality of 1,100 existing homes.

In addition to the physical improvements, together with project partners and Seddon, we have helped tackle economic and social challenges and invested time and funds to create a wealth of training and employment opportunities for those living locally.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the project and to all the other finalists!
