Rangoli ! An intricate art form largely found during the celebrations of Diwali, the festival of light beginning this year on the 4th of November. Each artwork is formed from powdered rock and mineral, coming together to create large patterns, the designs of which are passed down through the generations.

This year we’re celebrating Diwali with our Rangoli Dreams bathbomb and The Light in All of Us knotwrap, designed by our Re-Wrap enterprise. Re-Wrap works with local artisans to design and create handcrafted products using reusable cottons ~ ensuring fair payment from farming to knotwrap production!

Let’s talk cork!

Lush cork pots are sustainable, reusable and biodegradable, making them an ideal choice for plastic free and zero waste packaging

Where do we source our Cork from?

-We get ours from the cork oak forests in Portugal’s Alentejo region

Why choose a cork pot?

-Cork is taken from the bark of the cork tree every 9-10 years, so no chopping or stress is caused to the trees

-This method also helps prevent the fast spread of forest fires as the excess bark is removed for usage

-We also work with a member of the not-for-profit group Eco Interventions called Tobias who works with locals to re-educate them on how to sustainably manage the land, aiding the dying cork trade

How to use our cork pots?

-The cork pots will be perfectly happy in your shower or bathroom. “We find that the cork draws the moisture away from the shampoo bar and therefore contributes to preserving the product,” says Nick Gumery, a member of the Lush buying team

-After use, try popping your shampoo bar in the cork lid to help it dry faster

-Give your cork case a quick wash out once a month (any shampoo bar left in the tin will work great) and leave it to dry overnight

-Remember you can refill your case when you replace your shampoo bar

-At the end of its life, your cork case can return to the earth to nourish the soil without leaving any toxic residue

Launching this Friday is our Repeat Orange Foot Balm packed full of Orange Peel Wax. This botanical emollient acts as a shield to keep your feet soft and supple while protecting your skin in the same way it protects the fruit. 🍊

The formula is a take on traditional cold creams, a type of emulsion already used by the Romans. The difference is that this is completely plant-based and requires no preservatives.
