Introducing our third and final Headline act, the beautiful Boston Bun!
Bio: Making big changes can be a liberating experience. For Boston Bun, taking a musical leap of faith has resulted in a remarkable transformation. The French DJ and producer, real name Thibaud Noyer, has found a renewed zest and vigour for his music after relocating from Paris to London, leading to the release of new single ‘Spread Love (Paddington)’ through Atlantic Records. The track has racked up over 6 million streams in a month alone and has earned support from key tastemakers like BBC R1’s Annie Mac, Pete Tong and 1Xtra’s MistaJam in the process, earmarking it as a record with the potential to dominate the summer of 2018.
In his new home of London, Noyer has found a city full of both musical and cultural influences. A fan of UK music since he was a child, he was introduced to groups like Basement Jaxx and The Chemical Brothers by his uncle, an occasional DJ who was more like an older brother to him. His uncle would travel back and forth to the UK while Noyer was growing up, bringing back new music with him and educating young Thibaud on the freshest electronic releases.
Inspired, Noyer would go on to first make waves with the release of his debut EP, ‘Housecall’, back in 2012. Full of retro-leaning, lo-fi influences, it demonstrated his ability to produce music that straddled the line between leftfield and accessible. It was an instant hit and he was quickly signed to Ed Banger Records – the vastly influential dance label behind Justice, Mr Oizo and Uffie. In the years that followed he would release several EPs, each one working through a variety of styles, moving from straight up dance floor cuts to the deeper side of house and more mainstream-influenced productions, including ‘Flasher’ (2013) and ‘We Got Soul’ (2014). Records which are still getting played today by the likes of Mall Grab and Dennis Sulta.
2017 was the year that proved the turning point for Noyer. After deciding to leave Ed Banger, he set up his own label, Circa ’99, and released the anthemic ‘Missing You’ – his most successful and defining single to date. Premiered on BBC R1 as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’, ‘Missing You’ has since gone to amass well over 6 million streams and earn support from world-leading DJs like Diplo, Oliver Heldens and DJ Snake, cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting and inventive dance producers.
Having decided to strip back his studio equipment and make music exclusively on his laptop, Noyer had also started to invite friends and collaborators to work with him on his music during this period – a subtle creative switch up that resulted in a bountiful stream of new music, including new single, ‘Spread Love (Paddington)’.
Written in just two hours, Noyer felt that the original instrumental needed a vocal, so contacted his friend and regular Justice collaborator, DVNO, who would lay down his vocals over the phone. Inspired by one of his mother’s paintings of Paddington Bear hung on his childhood bedroom wall, DVNO’s infectious, memorable hook was born – and Noyer knew he’d landed on the track that would change his life.
Big Narstie might have been to the University of Oxford, but it's got nothing on him coming to University of Manchester Students' Union next week! Catch him at Official Freshers Night: Pangaea Presents The Big One 😎

Reacquaint yourself with the first of our three headliners this September, the incredible, remarkable Sister Sledge! Facebook Event: goo.gl/YB88XY
Sister Sledge are undisputedly one of the most iconic female groups of all time. As the pages of the Chicago Tribune have asserted, Sister Sledge “has the stuff legends are made of.”
Sisters, Debbie, Joni, and Kim (sister Kathy stepped away from the ensemble in 1989), are daughters of entrepreneur/actress Florez Sledge and acclaimed Broadway performer Edwin Sledge. Their grandmother, Viola Beatrix Hairston Williams, an accomplished lyric-opera soprano, provided unique vocal training to the siblings early on. Arranging for her granddaughters to perform at church events and community functions, the quartet were first introduced to the world as "Mrs. Williams Granddaughters.” Before long, they formed a band and with Debbie serving as vocal arranger, Joni as artistic director and Mom, Florez as manager, Sister Sledge was born.
Performing jazz, soul, gospel, disco, and R&B, the multi-lead vocal group flourished both in-studio and onstage. The sisters built a formidable reputation, dazzling audiences and impressing critics. They also made certain to complete academic studies, each of them earning a Temple University college degree.
Achieving success across borders, the group enjoyed huge popularity in Africa, performing at the “Rumble in the Jungle” Ali-Foreman heavyweight-boxing match, in Japan where they won the prestigious Tokyo Music Festival Silver Prize, and across Europe. In the U.S.A they became a household name with the blockbuster release of the iconic We Are Family album, produced by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. Following “He’s The Greatest Dancer,” came the albums seminal title track, “We Are Family” which skyrocketed the group in to the musical stratosphere. “We Are Family” became the theme song for the World Champion Pittsburgh. The hit songs “Lost in music,” “Thinking of You” and “All American Girls” followed.
After remaining at number one for over 4 weeks in the UK with the certified Gold single “Frankie,” Sister Sledge went on to collaborate with Incognito’s Bluey on the song “World Wise and Shine” which shot to number 1 in Italy and resulted in the now-trio starring in their very own TV show. In 1997 Joni Sledge produced the group’s 9th studio album, African Eyes, which was nominated for a Grammy as Best Produced CD, and remains one of their finest artistic achievements.
In December 2000, Sister Sledge performed at The White House for the President and First Lady at the final Christmas party of the Clinton Administration. The sisters continued to tour and in 2005 performed on the famous pyramid stage at the Glastonbury Music Festival in the UK.
In 2014 the group headlined at the Tramlines festival in Leeds, UK and worked with Scottish electronic producer The Revenge, on the track Stay A While, in London. In 2015, Sister Sledge were honoured to be invited to perform for Pope Francis at the world Festival of Families in Philadelphia, PA, along with Andrea Bocelli and Aretha Franklin. Debbie, Joni and Kim soon thereafter launched the brand concept and blog www.nothingisgreaterthanlove.org.
Over the years, the group has amassed a string of Gold and Platinum records, accumulating total sales of over 15,000,000 worldwide. Garnering along the way additional Grammy Nominations for Record of the Year and Best R&B Duo or group, Sister Sledge has earned over 100 awards and commendations.
