SPOTLIGHT ON Daniel Hester
Daniel Hester creates transformative realism drawings based off highly curated archival photographs. His work often encompasses themes of human relationships, cultures and traditions as well as both the ordinary everyday and the neglected niche. His pencil technique focuses on creating tone out of texture and capturing a natural flow within the forms he depicts.
The Window Shopper
(28 x 25cm) Pencil on Bristol paper.
£320
Based off an archival photograph from 1957 of dutch woman looking through the window of a to***co store, the reflection of some of the products can be seen hovering over her. Her clothing is a statement of affluence and importance for the time. In the background a tramcar can be seen as well as more casually dressed passers by.
Just received the artist submissions. It’s going to be a very hard choice!

Spotlight on ‘Titian, Diana and Callisto’ by Olga Mun
Olga’s painting serves as a visual dialogue that navigates through layers of ancient mythology and contemporary fairy tales. These narratives, often dismissed as obsolete, are re-envisioned to reveal their enduring relevance. They act as vessels, carrying the profound human questions of purpose and existence across the tumultuous seas of modern scepticism and disenchantment.

We are super excited to announce Olga Mun’s solo exhibition at The Lowry Hotel, opening tonight and running until the 23rd July. Open daily from 10:00 - 22:00.
Olga Mun is a figurative abstract painter currently residing and studying for her MA in Fine Art at The University of Salford. She recently won the prestigious AXA Art Prize UK 2023, where she was awarded £10,000 for her outstanding figurative art piece titled “IMPOSSIBLE PAINTING” (Cat no.62). The prize was awarded by a panel of judges including Jennifer Schipf, Mark Hampson, and Rachel Hobkirk, recognising her exceptional talent and contribution to contemporary art.
“My painting practice explores the vastness of the human condition, often this story and the intention of work is a consistent essence on one canvas. I convey my thoughts about humanity with such a depth that it causes an internal study of life, the environment, history and human activity and interaction. The work isn’t purely figurative, it plays with abstraction. It uses elements like almost abstract figures, transformative forms, gestural strokes, and infinite colour blending for each shape represented.” Olga Mun
