Last week I told everyone here how I'd spent the last 18 months or so arranging JS Bach's two huge sets of 6 English Suites and 6 French Suites from their keyboard original to two guitars. Well, I am delighted to tell you all that Les Productions D'Oz of Canada, who have published a lot of my original and arrangement works have agreed to publish them all! They are starting with the French Suites first, on a one - to - one basis and it will take some time, but they are all coming out ! Fabulous !
Back in March 2023, I started a huge arranging job , of considering doing all 6 English Suites and all 6 French Suites of J.S. Bach for 2 guitars. Today 15 months later I have done all 12! And as far as i am concerned they fit SO well onto two guitars that , other than octave moves every so often , almost no other work has had to be done to make them playable on guitars! YEYYYYYYYYYYY!!
Just received notice from my publisher Bergmann that my Little Suite for guitar solo is being published today! This just leaves one more piece of mine for guitar solo which they will publish later on this year, and EVERY piece I have ever written for classical guitar, whether solo or in combination with others will have been published ! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My website of Chrisdumigan.co.uk is newly updated by my brilliant friend Dan Coghill, and now includes absolutely everything that has musically happened to me up to today, including lots of new arrangements and transcriptions and publications. Why don't you take a look and see ?
There is a free ticket going tomorrow 2.30 at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall including a car parking space . I can't now use it , and I don't want it to get wasted, so all anyone would need to do is contact me back and pick the ticket and car park ticket up, and its yours for free. The concert is :-
1) Vaughan Williams Old King Cole, 2) Britten: The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra 3) Delius On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring 4) Delius Summer Night on the River and finally 5) Joanna Marsh Plastic Theatre , all played by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Youth Choir and Children's Choirs, conducted by Ellie Slorach.
Went to a stunning concert at the Bridgewater with the Chinese Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra playing some Tan Dun, Chausson, Saint - Saens , and the entire second half being Respighi's Fountains of Rome , and Pines of Rome. If you have never heard
these Resphighi pieces live before , you must. The final Pine' The Pines of the Appian Way' is one of the most invigorating pieces I have ever heard, for the way the music has the soundscape of the Roman Army gradually walking towards you from a distance, first very quietly but with an insistent beat constantly there, really grabs you. And the excitement as the army get nearer, and everything gets louder and louder AND LOUDER until you think it cannot possibly get louder , and then they bring in the extra 7 brass players standing on the balcony to make it even louder, is an experience I shall never forget. There is an old YouTube recording of the whole piece that is very good, if you have never heard this piece before, and want to know what it entails but yank the volume way up if you do ! . But just remember that it makes the crescendo of Ravel's Bolero seem quiet by comparison! What a piece !
Has anybody else heard that Dog Food advert on the TV where the company is selling 'real human ' meals for dogs? If you have tell me if the girl announcer's voice drives you nuts as it does me
For Example :-
# # ( The company's name) puts the FIYOOD (pronounced like that !) into Dog meals . I can't un - hear it now.!
I have just finished my arrangement for two guitars of the Bach English suite No1 (all 31 pages of it). I am hoping that it will be the first of the 6 English Suites and the 6 French Suites that I intend to do too! Quite a lot of work , but I think the pieces are well worth it !
