RACE FACES!
Here’s some racing faces I have drawn!
I will draw your face for a donation to Mustard Tree, who I’m running the Manchester half marathon for on Sunday!
Additions have been at the orderers request (I don’t personally think Dan is a running wa**er), with Logan Doggy as a double order - one donation per face!
It’s taper time now, which is the days before a race where you ease off training to be safe on the day. And you eat jacket potatoes and pasta to build up your lovely carby glycogen stores. Nice! I’m going to do a li’l run tomorrow and a very very li’l run on Sunday to remind my legs how to do it, and then it’s time for The Great PB Attempt 🙌 🥇 🤞

Oh heyyy, what’s this what’s this?
RACING FACE RACING FACE SHOW ME YOUR RACING FACE!
I ran my first big race (great manchester run 2022) over a year aho now and in that brief time since have accrued a fine library of many dubious faces in running pics.
To aid my fundraising for Mustard Tree, I’m offering you the chance to have your finest/worst/weirdest racing faces immortalised forever in a piece of quality digital portraiture!
Or maybe order one of your mate who you know will just love to that expression they made as they desperately questioned their life choices through a veil of lactic acid printed out nice and framed nicely on the mantlepiece.
An in-race picture is so often that rare and precious opportunity to have a visual record of your existential crisis.
Swipe for instructions on how to order! Link to fundraising page is also in my bio!
Pics will be 6x6”, print quality & emailed once they’re done. I’ll post them here unless you ask me not to.
Let me know if you want anyone tagged in them and, likewise, slap a tag here if you post it on any of your social media (I’m Lauriepink on Twitter and insta, and ElPinkus on the TikToks)
Last minute sign-up to this that’s on today!
Panicked sketching…
Such a good time! Had some great drawing happening and lots of people I know dropping by, which is always lovely
You too can colour with a cheesey thumbs up!
Or I suppose your kids could give it a go too…
When is a Sweary Animal not a Sweary Animal? When it has to behave for a family friendly exhibition! Soent a couple of hours last night calming these chaps from the 2017 Sweary Animal Showdown. The winning panda was so sweary it is ALL bleeps!
Which is probably a large part of the reason it it won…
Telling people about things with plenty of notice is for losers! Be ready at 7pm! COME DOWN!
(The exhibition’s on til 22nd, though. So if you’re going to be heading to Station South for a brew and a look around, let me know and maybe we can hang out)
There will be a WALL of [redacted] swearies! Remember these from 2017? Of course you do!
Currently getting last minute stuff sorted for this! Opening night TOMORROW!
Come on down, my frens!
At groovy !
Happy Levenshulme Pride weekend!
For anyone interested, I have a limited number of my Vintage 2019 Levy Pride tees, from The Before Times. A fiver each! Message me if you’re interested and we can arrange a furtive handover today, or find me at the parade 👍
Li’l public art collab at , pre Mr.Sparkle strut.
Here is a good boy. Such a good, creaky old boy.
Aimed for sub-2:30, hoped for sub-2:15, ran 2:01 😲
A wonderful day of meeting running with friends, hi-fiving cheering folks and lovely interactions with strangers.
The woman ahead of me and Dan, getting increasingly concerned at the absence if bus at 7:45 this morning, paid our bus fares for us!
Starting the race with Lucy, finding Dan and Hendrik again, high-fiving soeedy-boi Frank as we passed each other on the switchback (him ahead of course), seeing the crazy beauty of those first place athletes go past on the switchback, running 1 hour half marathons!
Going for a boss level sprint on the final stretch!
So many things!
Then Thom met me afterwards and treated me to a brew and a cinnamon twist at , only they didn’t bring us our cakes or my brew, so we came home and got a feast of breads and nibbles instead. Noice! It’s been QUITE the day. No blisters, no chafing, and toes weathered it fine. I even remembered to stretch (when I got home)!
MOST importantly: £715 for The Christie in Alison’s name. Absolutely amazing. You stars. Thank you

I posted the picture of of Alison and Adele on The Guardian site from the Manchester International Festival in 2017, and wrote that it was the year before she was diagnosed. It occurred to me after that post that Alison had already been to her doctor with the first symptoms of her cancer by then, and gave me a chill.
She went back and forth several times over months with symptoms that should have been immediate red flags, particularly given her age, but were put down to that - her age - and sundry Womens Things.
Ovarian cancer is still so under-diagnosed, it’s shocking.
In contrast, I went to my doctor with one of these symptoms and they booked an ultrasound for me just in case. It was quick, easy and not even a hospital appointment. I got an all clear, no problems. It was just the luck of the draw that I had an informed GP.
These symptoms don’t automatically mean ovarian cancer, but if you have them persisting for more than two weeks, they need your attention.
An early scan might have saved Alison’s life. It would certainly have given her more time. Hers was growing for nearly a year unchecked, and that’s only counting when her symptoms became obvious - Ovarian cancer in its very early stages often causes no symptoms.
If you’re concerned, you can request a referral for a scan, even if your doctor doesn’t offer it to you as an option. Or you can see a different doctor - your health deserves taking seriously.
So here’s what to look out for - not necessarily all at once, or one at a time. Ovarian cancer is tricky - back pain, constipation, indigestion, or pain during s*x can also be pointers. If any are new, frequent, or persistent, they need to be checked.
I’ve posted the pic of Adele and Alison on The Guardian website again because they look so fantastic. 💖

£500! £500!
AMAZING!
In the home straight for the half marathon on Sunday now! I am getting The Nerves. And also planning what to wear. Fashion choices! Comfort, practicality!
Discovered my shoes are actually too small yesterday when chatting to Dan after the Wednesday 5k and mentioning I’d lost four toenails (!) training. Once he pointed it out, it looked pretty obvious. Running a half marathon in new shoes, even if you can afford new shoes, is a foolish thing to do, so I’ll be running in shoes that are too small! Ha! It’ll be fine. CHALLENGES! 💪 🦶
And now I know and soon I’ll have shoes that fit.
In the meantime - 250% of target raised! Smashed it!
