What is battery storage ?

Installing batteries allows you to store electricity generated from your solar panels, to then use later in the day, evening time or at a later date.

Adding batteries is a great way to use more renewable energy, utilising the power you generate yourself and decrease your reliance on the grid.
You can add batteries to an existing solar panel system easily without any alteration or messing with your existing solar panel system wiring at all.

Why should I get battery storage ?

You may not realise it but up to 3/4 of the free electricity your panels produce may be getting wasted. Most homes only need around 500 watts during the day, if your panels are producing more than this then the excess electricity will be going out into the street without you getting any benefit from it.

Battery's can store your excess free electricity for use later when you get home. They can also charge with cheap off peak electricity during the night time then use it during the daytime when electricity is much more expensive.

Free or Paid Solar

Even if you don’t own the solar panels on your roof you can still have a battery system installed. If you already have solar panels you can install a battery system, it is completely separate from your solar panel system and will automatically charge up when there is excess electricity being generated from your solar panels.

Installation

The most ideal place for batteries to be installed is next to or near your fuseboard. We connect the battery system to the fuseboard and then a sensor wire is clipped round the main live to your home so the battery system knows when to charge up or release stored energy to power your home.

Monitoring

There is an app for your phone, tablet or PC for you to monitor the state of charge of your battery, it can also monitor how much electricity your solar panel system is producing too.

You can also set your battery to charge with cheap rate electricity during the night for use later in the day when electricity costs more. This is especially useful during winter months when less solar power is produced.

12kw (30 Solar Panels) with 15kw of Battery Storage installed at The Staff Sports And Socil Club in Shirebrook. This recent installation was a little different as the building only had a single phase supply. Our technical team provided a solution to get round the 6kw limit of a single phase inverter by installing 2 inverters that work together. This then let us achieve a larger installation of 12kw.

Solar Panel Meltdown Avoided !!!

This customers Solar Panel system had stopped generating electricity.

We checked it over and found the wires under the Inverter badly melted. It looks like the original installer did not have the correct tools to connect the wires to the Inverter.

Thankfully this system is back up and running after we changed the inverter and cables.

If you've had your Solar Panels for around 10 years now it would be a good idea to book in for a Solar Panel Health Check...
