Areas are being left un-mowed on the following play areas, the Town Park, Grotto Road, Forest Road and Croft Way as part of the Town Council Biodiversity Policy to encourage insects.

Start Date: 4th July 2024
End Date: 15th July 2024
Purpose: Site N06 Surface Dressing including sweeping, and lining. Dressing Works – 04/07/2024-06/007/2024 (Incl. Saturday) Lining Works – 13/07/2024-15/07/2024 (Incl. weekend). Please note that these works are weather dependent and subject to change.

Over the weekend one of the planters by the Market Hall has been vandalised and pulled off the railings. If anyone has information please contact the Town Hall on 01630 653364 or email [email protected]
The attached works are being undertaken by National Grid which they propose will require 3 way lights.
This will be between 22/07/24 & 26/07/24 on the junction of Sherwood Crescent and Shrewsbury Road near the factory.
Apologies in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause and they hope to keep all disruptions to a minimum.
Biodiversity Policy
Phase 1
Phase one has now been completed.
A total number of 22 bird, bug and bat boxes have been put up in Town Council Cemetery and play areas.
Phase 2 will be rolling out to residents and schools soon.

The work is currently programmed to take place in phases as follows: –

The hanging baskets, mangers, planters and pole tops were all put up last week throughout the Town, adding plenty of colour.
Councillors will be on their stall until 3pm today. Do pop along to their stall to discuss any local issues.

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and the Chief Constable for West Mercia are looking for people who have a good understanding and experience of public sector legislation and guidance, who are also politically neutral, to sit as members on the Joint Independent Audit and Standards Committee.
• Are you interested in policing?
• Do you live or work in West Mercia?
• Do you want to help scrutinise the way your police force’s finances operate?
• Could you offer a strong and independent voice to ensure the highest levels of governance?
• Can you commit to attending four meetings a year?
The Committee reviews and scrutinises the affairs of the organisations, looking at issues such as:
• Risk management,
• Internal control
• Corporate governance
• Overseeing audit arrangements
• Reviewing financial statements.
The appointments will initially be for a two year period from May 2024 to May 2026.
Applicants are required to be over the age of 18, live or work in the West Mercia area of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire, and be able to attend meetings at Police Headquarters, Hindlip, Worcestershire, during the working day. Successful applicants will be subject to a police vetting check. Serving police officers and police staff are not eligible for this role.
The successful applicants will receive training and an annual allowance including expenses for travelling to Police Headquarters. Meetings are normally held on a quarterly basis.
