When undergoing IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments to target pigmentation, it’s important to understand the process your skin goes through. After treatment, you may notice that the pigmented areas actually darken. This is a normal and expected reaction!

The IPL breaks up the pigment in your skin, causing it to temporarily darken as it rises to the surface. Over the next few days, this pigment will begin to shed naturally, revealing lighter, more even-toned skin underneath.

Laser hair removal exclusively targets the anagen phase, characterised by active hair growth and root attachment to the papilla. However, since not all hairs are in this phase simultaneously due to varying growth rates, multiple sessions are necessary to effectively treat each follicle during its anagen stage. IPL Laser therefore advises a minimum of 6 to 12 treatments to ensure enduring results.

The hair on the scalp typically remains in the anagen growth phase for a longer duration, which often results in favourable responses, although the amount of treatments needed can vary on each individual.
