I'm thrilled to announce that our Adult Ballet Summer Workshop is coming on July 20th! 💃🏻I truly believe ballet is for everyone, and I know many adult dancers want to improve their techniques, learn more, and dance more. Offering a special opportunity for an adult ballet class has always been a dream of mine. Although it nearly happened last Christmas, I had to cancel due to an injury😢
This time, I'm planning a class that will be enjoyable for everyone, from beginners to improvers.At the end of the class, we will create a piece and film the completed performance. I'm so excited to share this event with everyone who loves ballet. It will be a fun, friendly, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere!🥰

that’s the primary function of your brain! 🧠
After finishing the class, many dancers often approach me with the question, ‘how can I improve quickly?’ My response is simple: ‘Decide that you’re going to enhance your technique.’
Once you firmly commit to this decision, your brain begins searching for ways to elevate your skills. You might find yourself observing dancers you admire or incorporating additional stretching and body conditioning into your routine.
While merely ‘thinking’ engages your brain by tapping into past experiences, it’s not always the most efficient approach, as it relies solely on existing knowledge. However, if your goal is to venture into new territory, such as refining your ballet technique, it’s going to be a journey. But once you’ve made that ‘decision,’ your brain starts uncovering a wealth of useful information that may have previously gone unnoticed!

【Let’s focus on those ‘feel-good’ moments! 】
Sometimes during lessons, there are days when the combinations get a bit complicated, and we lose our rhythm. It happens. Today just isn’t my day... Maybe I start feeling a little tense during grande plié, then I get fixated on corrections... By the time the lesson ends, I’m completely drained and unsatisfied. It’s a common experience in adult ballet classes. When your mind is overloaded, it’s easy to lose touch with your body. No matter how hard you try, it’s tough to recapture that joy of dancing…
To shake off the negative fixation of ‘I should do better,’ I try to focus on the sensations in my body, the movements themselves. Even something as small as feeling your spine align perfectly after a forward port de bras, or nailing the timing of a little jump to the music’s end... !
Let’s zero in on those tiny ‘feel-good’ moments throughout our lessons! Once your body starts feeling good, it begins seeking out more of those moments, and you’ll find yourself responding better to the training. You’ll feel much more connected to your own body.

Good morning yogis! I passed my ballet exam with merit - yay…this picture was taken on the morning of the exam, 5 months after my surgery. I honestly wasn’t sure I would be ready for it as I couldn’t practise much of it until November and even then I couldn’t do the jumps until December. But I did it. The moment I could, I put in the work. I don’t want to say you can do everything that you put your mind to because I think that might be a bit of a lie. But you can certainly do most things that you love and put your heart and soul into.
If you have never tried ballet and would like to, there is a beginners class every Tuesday at 2-3pm at FlowMotion.Life in Matlock with one of my teachers, Nami of Mind-Body Ballet Fitness. My other teacher’s classes are full but Nami’s class has a few places. Nami is lovely, fun and very nurturing. Ballet is brilliant for keeping the brain young and the body strong and supple. Come and dance with us. You don’t need any experience (I didn’t have any when I started at the ripe old age of 50!)

⚠️It’s nothing to do with ‘Instagram food’!😂
It may seem like an unrelated topic to adult ballet, but one of my obsessions is ‘what you eat’.
Diet can significantly impact your physical and mental health, as well as your life! When you talk about ‘self-care,’ anything can be effective if your body is ready to absorb all the benefits, whether it’s meditation, exercise, journaling, or anything else.
I can say this now because I’ve faced various challenges throughout my ballet/dance career and life itself!😅
I’ve tried so many techniques and tips that said “it works”, only to realize that effectiveness relies on the body’s readiness to absorb them. Maintaining a healthy mind and body capable of absorbing knowledge is important, and ‘eating clean’ is the quickest route to achieving this👍🏼
As many of you know, recent research shows a strong connection between gut health and mental health.
I’ll talk a bit more about this connection later, but for now, let me share the health benefits of green bananas! 😁

Hello everyone!
I hope you all well amidst the busyness of the season! I wanted to provide an update regarding a recent injury and share information about next year’s schedule.
Following my consultation with a specialist this Tuesday, unfortunately, my calf tear is more severe than initially thought. Apparently, the anticipated recovery time is approximately 8 weeks (I am currently in week 2). I have an ultrasound examination appointment next week to establish more precise rehabilitation plans.
Considering this, I am contemplating taking a one-month break from teaching to ensure a complete recovery. If all goes well, I plan to resume lessons in February. I understand the inconvenience this may cause and sincerely apologize for any disruption and disappointment.
I will update my schedule as soon as I can gauge the progress of my injury. I hope this adjustment is acceptable to you, and I appreciate your understanding.
Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for all your support during this challenging time. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to me, and I am truly grateful!😭
