I was supposed to post this on Sunday - but I was too busy sending food out of the kitchen (yep they let me loose in there and with Adrian too! ) The roast pork was outstanding I’d book a table soon for next week 😋

We were very happy to host drinks for this incredible team - they all worked so hard to transform the “ugly Duckling” into a stylish community shop 🫶

Long-overdue Whitley Stores ‘topping out’ drinks last night with this Magnificent Seven. Paul, Eddie, Kevin, Graham, John, Ian and Billy worked tirelessly (though not too early, not too late and often with an afternoon nap) to transform our ugly duckling of a second-hand portacabin into the frankly gorgeous shop we have today. Not quite finished, they’ll be back in action when the timber to clad the back arrives next week.

Whitley literally would not have its shop without this amazing group of volunteers. We salute them.

So the Pantry Team told me off after yesterday’s Take Away post!! We sold so many, so today it’s the bar team 🍹The bar boys & girls make some amazing cocktails

Stan Ford from Bath is 99 years old. He's "honoured" to travel to Normandy to be part of the D-Day 80th anniversary events.

He was badly injured during the landings after his ship was torpedoed.

Five years ago, 225 veterans travelled to Normandy for commemorations – this year there were 23 ➡️ bbc.in/3KBIEpL

Green-fingered Clare’s Dorothy House plant table is an established landmark along Top Lane. Now she’s stocking a second table on our deck, this one raising money for Whitley Stores and the local community projects we support. The plants are all raised here in the village, topped up regularly with new stock and priced from as little as £1 each. Do have a browse when you’re visiting the shop and pick up a bargain or two.
