Clare's Window Design is taking a break π
Thank you for all your support over the past year!

Thought I'd introduce myself - Hello! My name's Clare, owner of Clare's Window Design - a business born in lockdown 2020.
I design and draw eye-catching window displays for businesses, homes & workspaces. I'm now based in Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough, where I've lived most my life.
How window designs could benefit you:
- Decorative privacy windows to give your windows some coverage
- Fun, bold statement pieces to grab attention on the street
- Simple decorative window borders to enhance your windows
Think my displays could work for you? Drop me a message today and we can chat! Let's work together.

Clare's Window Design began as a experimental small business in the middle of a lockdown. I finished my very first window in Huntingdon, Christmas 2020 - and it's grown into something special for me.
After this difficult year, I've decided to move back to my hometown in North East England.
Thank you so much for your support, everyone - and to all businesses and people I worked with in and around Huntingdon!

Feathery ferns πΏ and dainty daisies πΌ for Niche Comic's summer window (featuring new pink hair and pink toolbelt) I didn't know a new toolbelt could bring so much joy π what are your favourite tools and equipment?
Zen woman window - close up tour! She's my favourite - part of a set of three windows designed for Danielle Julienne, Yoga, Dance & Pilates Studio, on Huntingdon Highstreet πβοΈ
Just finished my biggest window design project... to date π₯³ Custom designed yoga-inspired windows for Danielle Julienne - Yoga, Dance & Pilates Studio on Huntingdon Highstreet.
These designs have given the studio:
- More coverage/privacy from the busy highstreet
- A custom theme to suit the yoga studio
- A cosier feel inside the space, whilst still letting lots of beautiful light in!
(Locals - if you're passing by Olmo's Lounge, just look up! π)
Can you guess.. what kind of business I made these custom designs for? βοΈβ¨
'Welcome back' π
It was a pleasure to change 'See you soon' to a cheery 'welcome back' as Oxfam Huntingdon opened its doors to the public yesterday!
And a thanks to those who said hello as I worked on the hand-drawn lettering π and the weather held up! let me know what you think βοΈ
Have you spotted this birdy & flowery window design yet? π¦πΆπΌ
It's on Huntingdon Highstreet, for Irina at Deluci House Childcare!
Here's some behind the scenes drawings, too - these inital sketches helped us get an idea of what the birds and flower elements could look like on the finished design βοΈ
Got a design idea for your business window? Or would like some creative ideas? Send me a message, and let's have a chat π
What is the future for the High Street? π€ I was interviewed by Davey from Avvid Design, a design agency based in Huntingdon.
We talk about my background, my window illustration process and my thoughts about the High Street's future ποΈ
We all know our high streets are struggling with lockdown and the rise of internet shopping.
Making the high street a more interesting and interactive place seems like the way forward.
We spoke to Clare at Clare's Window Design in the second of our creative faces blogs to find out how she is helping to bring something different to our high streets. https://avidd.design/creative-faces-clare-branson/
βYou must go on a long journey before you can really find out how wonderful home is.β
β The Moomins
Guess who...? π€ I've been working on these guys for Oxfam Books and Music, Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.
I usually work freehand, but paper templates are a really useful tool for complicated designs like this one!
I'll show you progress & the finished window soon.β¨
Spent this afternoon outside, doing a soft and flowy window border for Laura at Dinky Little Dot Photography Studio, St. Ives, Cambridgeshire π
It was absolutely freezing, literally, so definitely had a few warming-up breaks βοΈ helped along by a hot drink halfway though (thanks Laura).
I'm looking forward to working with you again for a summer themed window! π·
The photos don't look it, but it was a super cold day today! I worked on a spring window for Niche Comics & Bookshop with lots of white giant snowdrops.
Illustrated displays are a really nice way to celebrate the new season and help spread some positivity.
An upside, my mask kept my face warmer as I worked outside today!
Merry Christmas to you from me! βοΈπ
I hope however you've spent today, it's been as nice as possible in the circumstances - brighter times are coming.
Here is a initial digital design mock-up that I was going to create for Niche Comics & Bookshop's Xmas window!
Unfortunately due to things outside of our control, we weren't able to go ahead with it this year.
A choice of star was offered - on the left is a folk-art style, and on the right is a more classic style star design.
I'm looking forward to creating more window Illustrations (and showing you them) in the coming year βΊοΈ

Workday 1: Part 2!
In the afternoon, I drew the basic structures of the big snowflakes and filled them with frosty patterns βοΈ
White, wintery trees appeared, and swirly scrolls framed the window panes...
Finally, in the late afternoon, I began the most time consuming task of this design - the intricate snowy borders π¨οΈ
As the light faded, I headed home to give my wrist some rest and recuperation π
Hanging baubles drawn β
They were the most structured part of this design, so it's important they were measured & placed perfectly!
Workday 1: Part 2 - coming very soon...
Behind the scenes at Phoenix Hair creating a magical Christmas window design βοΈ
Workday 1: Part 1: The hanging baubles. This lovely old building was playing tricks on me - due to its age, the ceiling definitely isn't level! With a little time and patience, this problem was overcome - perfectly straight hanging decorations despite the sloped ceiling π
