Reiki is a form of energy healing which restores well-being and brings balance to one’s life. This manifests as pain, feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, fatigue.
It is a gentle, yet powerful way of shifting slow-moving or blocked energy. Sarah is an experienced Reiki practitioner. Qualified to master level, she has a small private practice and works as a volunteer Reiki master for Macmillan. Did a lovely Reiki meditation and wasn’t surprised to find that during the flow I’d become surreptitiously surrounded by pets. After my lovely stretch Percy sidled right up to me then licked me in the eye! Thanks Sweetie…. I know where that beak has been, and it’s a grim thought 🫣😋
Physically pooped, but so happy 🙌 We had a monstrous day of emptying the storage unit and bringing things home. It's wonderful to get the house back together once again, but boy, it was a huge task.

I have recently discovered cacao, well, not quite true, I've been using it for years but recently have been using the paste version to make an occasional morning drink. The method of making it is loaded with symbolism and intention, which is all part and parcel of its enjoyment. The ceremony of cacao is blissful and heartwarming, but it isn't everyone's cup of tea. Pun intended!
So whether you're making your coffee, brushing your teeth, hanging out the washing or even picking up after the kids for the 100th time in a morning, try connecting to the ceremony, or process of it. Find the blessings, the glimmers, the gratitude in it.
I can't say it works all the time, my brain is as busy as the next woman's but boy does it take the mundanity out of things. Weird that doing laundry can feel like self-care, but it does and I love it!

It’s funny… this stunning place is called Mantle’s Heath and it’s a few minutes away from my home. For some reason, I always call it Worth Matravers which is in Dorset! The day before yesterday l walked along the lane which leads to the next village and as I plodded I had a bit of an ah ha moment which might explain why I call it the ‘wrong’ name. Energetically I get the same feeling from both places 🙏 They are happy places and I feel connected to Mother Earth and the world around me while I am there (in either place), and as I discovered Worth Matravers first, I guess it gets first dibs! I love how nature and the universe combines to fire my spirit up, it’s a magical life ✨🙏✨
Yesterday was one of the luckiest days of my life.
I'd just done a Reiki session for a lovely client when on the way home a car coming in the opposite direction (I was doing 50mph) strayed onto my side of the road. Looking up at the last minute because of all the horn blowing going on, he regained control and went on his way. It was a hairy moment. Later that day, I passed through a junction and as I did a car came from the other side of the road out of a side turning. He pulled out in front of an oncoming juggernaut and sped across the carriageway behind me. The lorry driver remained calm and didn't take any evasive action, which was a blessing. Then, late afternoon I managed to put my foot through some ceiling board (we're having our loft converted and I was up there taking pictures). I smashed my left thigh on a joist and my left and right lower legs got caught on rafters bending my legs this way and that. I'm badly bruised and stiff, but OK.
As I say, I think it was a lucky day. My husband said I would have only been lucky had none of those events happened, he’s not wrong, but they did and everyone is OK, so I'm sticking with feeling lucky ☘️ I'd had such a magical day, no one was stealing that from me ✨🙏✨
Self-care doesn’t have to be about grand gestures. Take Percy, we’re having building work done and he’s a bit discombobulated at the moment. This morning after breakfast he took his breakfast bowl to the sofa for a lie down and a lick. It’s something he’s never done before, it lasted just a minute or two but it was self-care at its finest 🙏

Reiki is much more than hand healing, mindfulness plays a huge part in the Reiki way of living, and I'm pleased to say that I am now qualified to bring mindfulness to my clients. Furthermore, I have also studied neurodivergent informed mindfulness with the Mindful Society Global Institute, making mindfulness, meditation and well being accessible to all 🙏✨✨🙏

Moving from the darkness into the light 🙏
After a very difficult six months I'm finally starting to put my head above the parapet and will be returning to practice. I'm going to work on some self-healing throughout March but will be easing myself back into Reiki sessions. I plan to be fully back in action in April. Thank you all for your smiles, hugs, thoughts, good wishes and much love 😘
It's said that the narrowest gap a cat can fit through is the same width as its whiskers. Our feline friends are teaching us a lesson in how to perceive the world around us.
Do you sit down with every best intention to try and calm your mind, do a bit of meditation perhaps, but then choke as soon as your mind wanders off or a pre-recorded voice tells you to take a deep breath or be more present? This is because we're not all wired the same. What's relaxing for one person might be agony for the next.
Going back to the cat, he'll sense with his whiskers, he'll listen with his ears, he'll taste the air with his mouth, he'll look with his eyes, he'll feel with his paws. We can do this too! Instead of working hard at relaxing or be present, simply explore your senses in the moment you are in. What are you hearing, feeling, seeing, smelling? Which one of the senses brings you the most pleasure? Go back to the one that feels the most comfortable. Enjoy that connection you're making and then you'll be in the moment.
This is being present and it's easier to achieve once you find the sense which works best for you 🙏✨

Sarah is a qualified, insured Reiki Practitioner who is accredited by the UK Reiki Federation. She works with cancer patients and clients throughout Northamptonshire. Due to COVID restrictions Reiki is only available from a distance, however, it is just as effective so please do not hesitate to contact Sarah to book in for a session.
Sarah also provides a relaxation and calming service for pets which helps when enduring stressful situations, it is important to realise that this is a calming service, it isn't for the treatment of conditions diagnosed by your vet, this aspect requires further training.
