Our new paper (led by Professor Rhys Green) uses three independent statistical models to estimate the world population and trend of the Spoon-billed Sandpiper. The weighted mean world population size at the end of the breeding season, based on 10 surveys in 3 countries, was 490 mature individuals (95% CL = 360–620) and 773 individuals of all ages (95% CL = 569–978).
