At Monnow Interiors, we're looking for a new Interior Designer to join our team. One of the unique and delightful aspects of working at Monnow Interiors is our office dogs! If you have a passion for design and love the company of furry friends, we'd love to hear from you.

Rolo: Rolo is our vigilant gatekeeper. This small dog has an eagle eye, and nothing escapes his watchful gaze. Rolo enjoys moderate adventures and is not shy about expressing his opinions.

Atlas: Atlas is our energetic puppy who serves as the official greeter. He is always ready to welcome you with enthusiastic tail wags.

Diggle: Diggle is our wise and relaxed senior dog. He enjoys leisurely walks. As the calmest member of the team, Diggle is always happy to accept treats and belly rubs.

3 reasons why we love wood

1. Wood is a material deeply linked to grounding feelings of stability, warmth and familiarity. From the depth of colour to the texture of the grain; wood can really impact how at one we feel with a space.

2. When sourced well, wood is a great sustainable material that can be easily renewed and recycled. Vintage wooden pieces can easily be given a new lease of life time and time again, extending their longevity.

3. On a deeper sensory level, wood isn’t just about aesthetics. The smell of wood can be powerfully transportive too. Think of the comforting scent of hot cedar wood in a sauna; or the nostalgia of pine during the winter months.

The Beni Studio is an 8,000 square foot hub of craft - where 85 weavers work next to a sun-flooded courtyard, where the thump of hammers against wool fills the air, and where our team explores new possibilities of an age-old art. Their weaving team is paid 2-4 times the national average along with government benefits, free transportation, and childcare. These benefits are revolutionary for Morocco's craft industry and led to their recognition as a fair trade certified business by label step, a Swiss NGO focused on the handwoven rug industry.

Their process:

Beni pays 5x the average price per kilo of wool, shearing humanely from high-atlas sheep. These long fibres equate to superior wool that sheds less and lasts longer.

Each Beni rug is made up of tens or hundreds of thousands of hand-tied knots. Often working in tandem, weavers work on vertical looms, the technology of which hasn’t changed for hundreds of years.

Each finished Beni rug is washed up to five times and dried on handmade racks under the desert sky.

The final step. Newly finished rugs are carefully (okay, obsessively) inspected, cleaned, fussed over, and finally wrapped and shipped to their new homes.
