The Bookmakers
The Bookmakers is a micro pub in Heysham based in the old Heysham Road betting shop as the name sugge We are now back to normal opening times.
So a busy weekend coming up, it’s officially Autumn so we’re going to try a trip to Skipton again on Saturday , usual rules apply, 10.32 train from Morecambe, if your there your there if your not your not.
Then on Sunday a steady run down the prom and back will get you all acclimatised ready for the upcoming fresh mornings 😂😂
The Bookmakers “A Breath For Life” fun run will start at the Bookmakers at 12.30 pm , registration from Noon.
£5 entry and all proceeds go to the charity, there will be a raffle for a meat selection from Preston's of Heysham.
Any of those guys recovering from Saturday could make themselves useful by marshalling in the lovely sea air.
Hopefully see you there.
When two of your regulars (And I mean regulars) ask when next you’re manning the bar you tend to panic 🤔
But when they walk in with this present for me you know your doing something right, and that is what we have here Bookmakers, a little community of friends that have laughs and banter and fallouts but are all still friends at the end of the day.
Thank you to all my clientele old and new and to the team that pull together to overcome most things.
I have achieved what I set out to do when I opened this place and I’m not really grumpy am I ??????? 😂😂
We will be having a Micro beer festival next year as well date to be arranged.
Thank you again.
Well the first ANNUAL Bookmakers Micro beer festival is done and thanks to all who attended.
We weren’t blessed with the summer weather we hoped for but I think we got away lightly considering the forecast.
Thanks to all my team who put in extra hours and especially Lynn who gave up her weekend to help hubby.
Helen was sad to see her bar close on Monday night as she got sentimentally attached to it over the weekend.
Thanks to Brian from Dispense Technicians for setting up the other bar and keeping things running smoothly at all times here at the Bookmakers.
So it’s time to go and remove the temporary equipment and again thanks to all.
Peter
Overnight change on the keg and if you like a sour beer this one’s for you, open today at noon till 10pm tonight.
Hope to see you over the remainder of the weekend.
Another exceptional installation by Dispense Technicians leads to a lovely little interior bar here at the Bookmakers ready for our Micro Beer Festival.
We have 18 beers on the go this weekend.
Here tonight till 10pm.
Open Saturday ,Sunday Noon till 10pm and Bank Holiday Monday Noon till 8pm.
Good morning Beer lovers.
First things first, I have been reliably informed I have been misleading you all, this is not Heysham’s first beer festival, there have been two at the royal back in the nineties.
Anyway moving back to 21st centuries first Beer festival and I have made an executive decision due to weather predictions to move the outside bar inside.
Due to this rearrangement the beer choice will be slightly reduced and the opening times will also change.
So here are our opening times.
Friday 2pm till 10pm
Saturday 12noon till 10pm
Sunday 12noon till 10pm
Monday 12noon till 7pm
There will be the outside area available if in the unlikely event the Bank Holiday weather decides to be good.
Don’t forget folks… bank holiday weekend, Heysham’s first beer festival. Come and spend the last bank holiday of the summer enjoying some stunning beers from local breweries. Cask and craft ales along with ciders.

A quick Thursday cider change and we’re back to Lilly’s as seacider choice is not good at the moment .
Midweek manoeuvres here at the Bookmakers bring a couple of big runners onto the Bar both from The Durham Brewery Ltd.
One change on the Keg line brings a Sureshot Brewing New England IPA @6%.

I say, " may be in with a chance" because I haven't asked Pete yet but let's just play along anyway 😂
Well the midweek manoeuvres sees the last of the Grilled Saint gone and a seasonal football beer (much to my better judgment) arrive on the bar, “Roaring Ale” 3.8% Blonde from Pennine Brewing Co then we start on our selection with “Ventana Vista IPA” 4.1% and “Tap to Unwrap” chocolate orange stout @ 5.2%.
sunset IPA @ 4.5% returns and joins the house “Blonde” @ 4.2% from .
“Seacider” Blood orange @ 4% is on pump No 6 and the keg lineup is as the photo.
I will be at Lancaster about 10.30 ish, if Skipton is not on then I’ll get on train to Chorley, whatever the journey needs to start at Lancaster.
The usual Bookmakers saying applies, if your there, your there, if your not, your not.
Hopefully see you all in an hour or so.
The 10.51 from Lancaster is still ok but there is no connection from Morecambe to Lancaster as this would be the 10.32.
Return journey all ok at present so I suggest we go with it today but need to start from Lancaster ???
I’ll be at Lancaster for the 10.51
Morning all
Just been informed that the Skipton train is cancelled, any ideas of were a group of guys can go on a Saturday for a beer or do we just reschedule ??????
