I’m very excited to announce that the very talented Hall Of Aesthetics is joining me a couple of days a week at Botanica Beauty.
Ami is super talented, very professional and knowledgeable in her field, she is a qualified nurse practitioner and I’m so excited to work alongside her here at BB.

She will be offering a variety of treatments such as Dermal fillers, Botox , B12, Microneedling, The Lemon bottle fat dissolving 🍋 and Chemical peels to name a few. She is all set up on the booking app (using the same link) so feel free to head over to book a treatment or consultation, alternatively pop in on one of her days / evenings for a chat.

Oh H E L L O… before, during & after a brow lamination treatment. One of my favourite treatments on some of my favourite brows 🤍

I don’t normally post personal on my business page, but on this occasion it’s a must… I wanted to share this link to my good friend Julia’s just giving page.
She is the most lovely lady , a client who quickly became a friend to me.

Someone who helped me personally with my own struggles, and so… it gives me so much pleasure to be able to share this with you all to help, even just a little if you can as I appreciate times are hard right now.

Julia is walking 100 miles in May alone for a charity not only close to her heart but all of ours… Cancer Research UK.

What makes Julia really incredible is she started her second battle with breast cancer recently and started chemo on April 19th, so not only is she walking 100 miles this month she’s doing it whilst having chemo and battling this awful disease.

Now, knowing julia as I do… she won’t stop, she won’t give up… she will absolutely give this everything she’s got.

And I’m 1000% behind you, Julia! We all are 💕

MONDAY - nothing bomb eyebrows can’t fix 💣

I wanted to take this time to reassure and try my best to educate my nail clients the best I can…

There has been a BBC piece written and documented about ‘gel polish’
A lot of clients have asked about this and I wanted to explain the best I can what this means as it’s quite generalised and there’s a lot of scaremongering headlines out there.

I have always believed in the health of my clients nails first and foremost , I WON’T carry out a treatment on your nails if they are too damaged, or if I believe the nails are not healthy

The British Association of Dermatologists is warning that the methacrylate chemicals found in gel polishes and acrylic nails can cause allergic reactions in some people.

This isn’t new, however the number of reactions have increased dramatically over covid / lockdown when gels polishes / acrylics were bought from suppliers who don’t just sell to professionals but to the client direct to apply at home, or by untrained technicians… these are PROFESSIONAL products and so that is why I only buy from reputable companies who only sell to professionals where I have to show certification & proof that I am a professional nail technician.

A quote from the article reads…
“Dermatologists do believe that the rise in reports of allergies are due to unqualified professionals using at home nail kits bought from unregulated sites, also using unregulated brands who are unfortunately using Concentrates of more than the safe levels of hema” - over 30% !

Let’s talk about hema / acrylates…
Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate (HEMA) is an acrylic monomer that is used to make various types of polymers, including those used in some gel & nail products - As well as acrylic paints, in hospitals , contact lenses, dental materials and so on.
This has been used for many years in the nail industry safely.
Acrylates are a family of chemicals that help gel polish to harden and adhere to the nail plate. Experts say that chemicals in nail gel polishes, which are methacrylates, can, with improper use, seep onto the skin and cause an allergic reaction
But, Professionally used & properly cured (polymerised) (hardened) the acrylates then no longer pose as a risk

If a lamp is not at least 36 watts or the correct wavelength, the acrylates - the group of chemicals used to bond the gel , do not dry/cure properly, therefore penetrating the nail bed and surrounding skin, causing irritation and allergies.
This is why it is super important to ensure proper curing of ALL products and avoiding products from touching the skin.
The strength of my lamps are NOT the same as home bought kits, therefore you are posing a huge risk of a reaction.

Many companies now acknowledge the rise in allergy's and are introducing alternative hema free options that are available such as hydroxypropyl methacrylate (2-HPMA). This is used by some factories and brands as an alternative to HEMA and in HEMA-free acrylic liquid also.
However as I’m sure you are aware the whole family of acrylates and methacrylate are potential allergens

I can confirm that all our products are safe and have passed ALL testing required here to use by professionals in the UK.

Allergy's are unfortunate & I can't 100% guarantee nobody will ever have a slight reaction, anyone can have a allergy or suddenly develop an allergy to absolutely anything - gloves / hair dye / tints / lash glue & even cotton wool.

Please don’t let the scaremongering hold you back from what you have worked so hard to achieve in your nail journey with your favourite nail tech 💅🏽

🤍 The professional brands of gel I use are little to no levels of HEMA
🤍 I use professional matching lamps to cure ensuring the gel is fully cured
🤍 They are made and manufactured in the UK or US strictly meeting the UK’s safety standards
🤍Your nail health is paramount to me
🤍 I always use high end products in all the treatments I carry out
