Hi to all our lovely, loyal and patient customers! After a waste of seven months we have decided to no longer pursue the RAFA club. WE could not reach an agreement with the owners with reference to the conditions of the lease. You may have noticed that the building is in a poor state of repair. That was going to be down to us to put right. It is not uncommon in a commercial lease that the tenant keeps the building and surrounds insured and in good condition. However, it has to be a workable condition in the first place. There are holes in the roof, rot in the joists and a lot of damp.. There have been repairs done by previous members and friends which have only exacerbated existing problems. We have spent money on solicitors, surveyors and more..... but have decided that it can only get worse as we uncover more problems. The RAFA head office refused to take any responsibility for the building, wouldn't bring it up to watertight and secure, so we have told them that we will have to pull out.
We look forward to welcoming you soon................somewhere!
Another week of downs......and ups!
Just to let you know.......something is finally happening with the lease! Paper is moving around in the solicitors office, so hopefully we can get something to sign early next week? Keep watching!!!!
We've found a gorgeous gluten free lager for the bar!
Had fun this morning choosing a nice range of vodka, gin and whiskies for the bar, as well as some Spanish favourites such as Pacharan.
Beautiful blossom right outside our new bar! Hope this horrible wind and snow doesn't blow it all away!
Yet more hold-ups in our mission to get La Bodega up and running... but we will persevere! As soon as we know more we'll announce!
Another great night at the black and grey and sour grapes last night. Lovely to see Tracy and Keith, thanks for your continued support and interest in la Bodega! We'll keep you posted!
Looking forward to visiting the Bari Tea Brewery in Alnwick this afternoon for some tea tasting for the new La Bodega! We might just have to pop into Marilyn & Melrose too!
As you may or may not know, I currently work at socrates in Morpeth. We are looking for waiters/waitresses. Part-time/full time, lunch-time/evening, weekdays/weekends - there are hours to suit everyone - so if you love working with the public, enjoy looking after people and want to serve great food - then give us a call on 01670 514666. It's a friendly, happy team!
Today was mostly carrying more chairs, watching chairs being delivered and watching chairs being carried! Oh, and buying paint stripper!
Well, the wine tasting went very well yesterday afternoon. We have some old favourites and some very interesting new little numbers for you all to try! A very gorgeous one that stood out was a Sunburnt Chardonnay from Oz! It was all helped down with some lovely cheeses, olives and jamon that we sampled.... All in the name of research darlings!
Yesterday's 'weight lifting' was 5 stainless steel tables, 8 garden tables 12 garden chairs, 3 large parasols, a griddle and half a ton of crockery. Followed by round two which was - 4 dining tables and six chairs. Then, a 2-door bottle fridge. Apart from that I didn't do much....
Wonder what today will bring........ooh yes...wine!
Love a bit of Moroccan tile!
Such a busy day yesterday meeting builders, plumbers, painters. Carrying tables and chairs. Driving to Otterburn and back to pick up furniture - and that was all before 3 o'clock - then I went to work for the evening! Today it's all about paperwork and sums!
Took our first booking for new year's eve last night!
Who doesn't love a bit of colour?
Exciting Developments! We hope to be able to let you in on the secret soon!
Here's some lovely music I've just been introduced to!
Hi lovely lot. I have some walls that are covered in woodchip and painted with a few coats of vinyl silk - does anyone know the best way to get it off?
This was a fun day.
