We need a Hillsborough law. Now.
Under the Tories, a million children are living in destitution - this Prime Minister can't explain why.
Such exciting news! This will mean a great deal to those who work in our flourishing nighttime economy and especially at our new music and culture venues on the Mersey's Left Bank.
Well done & your team who made it happen
Night buses to return across Liverpool and Wirral from next month Additional services will run every weekend from December 8
A number of constituents have been in touch in response to the points deduction handed to Everton Football Club by the Premier League. Asking me to sign EDM 79. I am unable to sign EDM’s as a member of the Shadow front bench team, but I share your concern. I have also spoken directly to representatives from Everton on this issue
I have called for the introduction of a Independent football regulator for a number of years and will support the introduction of such a regulator under a future Labour Government. We are expecting a proposed law to change the way football is regulated, and I raised Everton's situation on the floor of the House of Commons. You can see my question here
Governance in men's professional football has been poor for a very long time and action by Parliament is overdue. I will keep raising this until we get legislation on the statute books to protect the clubs we love.

I was very glad to speak at LinkedIn's Skills-First employment conference today, setting out Labour's case for a more ambitious DWP.
When the Prime Minister wanted a new Foreign Secretary, he glanced at his frontbenchers...then his backbenchers...before bringing back the Old Etonian who recruited him in the first place.
I’m glad to see LinkedIn do things differently, using high-quality information about users and the labour market to get people the best possible job - but our low-ambition DWP just rushes people through jobcentres in 10-minute appointments.
We know the DWP is failing because too many people end up trapped in low-paid work. Only 1 in 6 low-paid workers ever truly escape it.
In the North East, 8% of jobs are paid at or near the minimum wage, compared to 4% in the South East.
Labour will:
- Reform employment support, ending the 'Any Job' culture that wastes people's time and talent.
- Take a new towns & cities approach, so every place has a plan to grow.
- Tackle class bias with Clause 1 of the Equality Act - ambition for everybody, always.
At Wirral Repair Cafe with lovely Pauline today. Thank you, Rob, for fixing the guitar that had been left unplayed for years. You made it sound just great.
If you know anyone who can fix clocks, the repair cafe need them - do get in touch ♡ and thanks Wirral Deen Centre for hosting
Update on the regeneration work in New Ferry.
Today in Merseyside, our Labour metro mayor Steve Rotheram opened a new station over in Kirkby - one of the more poorly served parts of our city region - and our new trains are running round the network. They are *much* more accessible and better for the environment and will bring needed extra capacity. Steve is also leading the charge to get our buses sorted - putting passengers first.
Yesterday, the Tories in charge broke their own promises on railway investment, after a decade of decimating our bus services.
The news that a school on the Wirral has lost one of our precious young people is incredibly hard to bear. My heart goes out to their family and friends. I am also thinking of the loved ones of the driver of the vehicle and I am so sorry that this dreadful incident has happened. I know that our emergency services will have done every possible thing to save lives at the scene and I am so grateful to them.
In weeks and months ahead, the investigation will provide much needed answers on this terrible crash. No one should speculate until the facts are known.
We will need to care for two school communities that will be heartbroken today, and as a borough, the Wirral will do all it can to care for those traumatised and injured.
Schoolgirl, 14, and driver killed as bus overturns in M53 crash Merseyside Police has confirmed 54 people were on the bus including the driver
Please stay away from the area if you can. Desperately hoping for all involved and thinking of the whole school communities affected. I know our emergency services will be doing their very best for them.
Merseyside: 'Major incident' as school bus overturns on M53 motorway with 'a number of casualties' Calday Grange Grammar School confirmed one of its coaches was involved in the incident at junction 5. One person has been taken to hospital after suffering major trauma-related injuries while nearly 50 others were being assessed at the scene, North West Ambulance Service said.
So lucky to have Wirral Hospice St John's in our borough. They are full of life, help people of all ages and through Hospice at Home reach right across the Wirral. Learnt a lot with them today. Thanks all 💙
Met with local Mersey Police officers this morning to talk about feedback I've had concerned about antisocial behaviour. We know good neighbourhood policing is so important and anyone who has experienced antisocial behavior or worse can get in touch with them and should get a good response. I want the Wirral to be safe and to feel safe for everyone.
Horrendous news. Thinking of his family and loved ones. Please do get in touch with Mersey Police if you can help.
Tributes pour in after man, 35, dies in crash The road remains closed and an investigation is underway
Really good to stop by the Eastham Pavillion of the Old Anselmians Rugby club to talk to Ray and Richard about their role in South Wirral promoting sport and community.
And a treat to have lunch in North Shore afterwards - I know the Allport Road gang love them...
Ten years after all NHS public servants were supposed to have a duty of candour - to volunteer the full truth - it doesn't seem to be working.
For all the families affected by the horrific crimes committed by Lucy Letby and the unimaginable pain caused we owe our efforts to understand why and to make change.
I am glad that the Government have decided that there will be a statutory, judge-led inquiry into what happened at the Countess of Chester, and it was good yesterday to have full agreement in the House of Commons for this.
