Here's a look at a recent gate project that was repaired, leveled up, tweaked, strengthened, and a lot more.
We reconfigured all the metal on the main gate, and everything installed was bespoke for this gate, including the hidden adjustable hinges.
Also installed a new bft gate motor and controls. The old gate motor was burnt out and underrated for the size/weight of the gate.
While on site, we also reconfigured the side pedestrian gate, cutting, modifying, and rehanging so it now fits nicely in the archway and installed a new set of adjustable hinges and throw latch for better security.
All metal work and gate hinges finished in satin black.
One thing we have noticed recently is that jobs advertised as cheaper or installed quicker don't always guarantee a quality finished result and often lead to further costs and time to rectify.

A great start to the week with another 5* review.
Where possible we are aiming to become as environmentally conscious as possible. With this in mind, along with the continued popularity of composite boards, we have the below pack on hand for each site visit, showing all 5 colour options available along with 3 screw colour options.
♻️ Around 192 plastic bottles are recycled to make just 1 composite board provided by our supplier. That's a HUGE amount saved from landfill ♻️

We have been fitting in several services over the past 2 weeks around starting the groundwork and cabling for some new installs.
Just a few photos from some of the recent services. The first, a 4.5m sliding gate we installed last year, still looking great and keeping ontop of yearly servicing will ensure they continue to work for years to come with little to no issues.
The second gate is a 4m sliding gate we installed in 2022. Again the customer has kept up with annual servicing.
The final photo is a swing gate pair. This was one of our first customers when we started the business in 2020, who following the initial install, by another company, never had it serviced. Following several gate faults and breakdowns they contacted us to came out to do a full service. Since then the customer has kept up with regular services and has had no further issues, showing the important of annual services.

We are regularly called to look at gate faults or carry out repairs on installations we haven't fitted.
All the systems in these photos were fitted by 'professional' gate companies and these are just some of the issues we've seen:

-rushed wiring bundled into cabinets (potential hazard)

With all the recent storms and heavy winds we have had many calls from homeowners who have both manual and automatic gates, some reporting damaged metal work, some that their gates are not working quite right and some that the gates have opened past their intended point. We are due to visit some this week to look into repairs.
We advise all of our existing customers at the start of each winter to ensure their gates are held open during named storms and periods of extremely strong wind. We understand this is not always ideal, however it will ensure no damage and therefore additional costs by making sure gates are securely held open.

Just to remind all our customers and anyone with electric gates of a couple of points worth following during the winter months:
- Always know where you gate release key is, should the power go out you may need this to open your gates, if you don't have battery back up, and rummaging through drawers for the key in the dark is never fun.
- If it's very windy, it's advisable to set your gates to be held open to minimise the risk of damage
- In snowy conditions or if the gates are under a tree make sure to clear away the photocells to ensure the beam is not blocked by leaves, snow, or other debris.
Please note that if it is extremely cold and icy as the past week has been, gates will function alot slower, or temporary stop working until the oil and mechanism is warmer; much the same as it takes your car a little longer to start and tick over when it needs defrosting.
Just completed a sleek new manual gate and fencing installation.
As you can, see the pictures show a big change from the old to new and at MEA Gate Services that's what set out to do on every new installation. We always make sure no stone is left unturned.
We swapped out the old metal automatic gates for new iroko manual gates,oak posts, black metal work with hidden fixings. We also made 2 new bespoke fence paneled returns, all made on site.
From the start to the finish, we have worked closely with our customer, making sure they got the look and security they wanted.

These photos show the need for gate services. Despite the motor casements being clean and empty on install in just a couple of winters, if not regularly serviced the casements can fill up with dirty, bugs and debris.
This can not only cause overheating but can mean the motors run slower and moisture and insects are likely to work their way into the actual motor, causing further irreparable damage and cost.
This is just 1 part of the 13 point checks we carry out on the service. We will clean, lubricate and readjust tensions and levels where needed to ensure your automation equipment is functioning at its best.
A recent new install that I'd forgotten about after looking over my photos.
So we started again on this gate system after 16 years it was showing its age and had failed due to numerous issues. So we installed 24 volt gate automation kit, a small amount of ground work, new exit keypad, gsm intercom reprogram and, of course, the icing on the cake, a wider and slightly higher set of aluminum gates.
All metal work/brackets are made to measure and bespoke for this installation.

Recent install for a new customer. We worked alongside the customer closely, and everything was all completed how they wanted as per the operation of the gate system, and we were more than happy to use the existing gates.
We installed a du.it 24nve kit, using a 180-degree arm kit on 1 gate, and installed a smart button for visitor entry on demand. Bespoke rubber gate stop.

Two recent gate/access rewires. The 1st rewire was needed due to the whole access control box and motor casement being hit by a delivery driver, luckily caught on camera. We did a total rewire and repaired the motor plastic casement.
The 2nd rewire also included a pcb change and location move. We rewired and moved all the controls off the ground away from any water ingress or slug/insect, which should have been done by the last company to prevent unnecessary pcb damage.
As normal, we went through every step with each customer, making sure they were happy with any changes being made.
