On Sunday 30th June Positively Canine ( Debs & Jo) judged 7 teams entered into a bronze trial.

The Trial was held at Murton Park a farming museum.

The search area was in a Roman Fort which included the perimeter of a courtyard leading into the inside search area which was one room that included tables and benches as well as some drawers and other furniture.

The first hide was located to the left of the courtyard on the perimeter, close to the start line behind a supporting pillar.

The second hide was located indoors, at the end of one of the benches to the right of the entrance.

All dogs worked incredibly well, but not all found, however this was partially due to handlers blocking the dogs access to the indoor hide and 1st trial nerves.

It was lovely to see previously judged teams progression and to welcome 3 new teams to ScentOps.

Crowle Peatland railway on June 2nd 2024
Thank you to all those who took part in this trial and thank you for being patient in waiting for this post due to me being on holiday immediately after the trial .
The trial was held at the above venue which is a working museum. We had the venue to ourselves and would like to thank the venue for their hospitality and laying on an excellent breakfast and lunch.
My thanks to Angus for organising the venue and food. Karen Holmes who was the time keeper and Paula Thorpe for being the scoreboard steward and working Thomas as our white dog.
The results of the trial are below and the write up for each trial is in the comments. For many of the participants this was their first trial and the teamwork shown was great to watch.

On Saturday 11th May 2024 Nosework Dogs held a Silver ScentOps at a lovely Doggy Day Care Centre in Royal Wootton Bassett. 8 dogs competed on what was a lovely sunny day but quite warm. Thank you to Vee Garner Richardson who co- judged with me (Marie Poole).

The results were
Judith Poulton & Eddie 1st Place 97 points
Marney Wells & Mustard 2nd Place 96 points
Sharon Smith & Mosi 3rd Place 93 points
Clare Salter & Xena 4th Place 83 points
Bev Hoddinott & Delilah 5th Place 81 points
Peter Tuck & Minnie 6th Place 77 points.

The area we used was part of a Portaloo companies storage area. It was a large enclosed yard with trailers and vehicles parked within it. The 1st odour was placed near to the start on the front of a trailer where the tow bar met the trailer body. The second odour was further down the search on the back of a trailer parked near to a fence. It was quite a narrow area but plenty of room for dog and handler. 3 dogs got both hides and the dogs that found 1 hide were equally spread between the 2 hides. The main reason for misses were handlers just not covering the area fully or getting stuck on areas of interest and running out of time. Some lovely handling was shown and beautiful indications across all the teams. Thank you to all who came.

Chimney Corner Football Club 6th May 2024
Judge: Lesley Clements
Trial Report
The search was within a sectioned off area in the Club Rooms of Chimney Corner Football Club,
Antrim. This included the area leading to and along the bar and a raised seated area to the side.
The hide was located under the foot of a small round bar table leg on the raised area . The leg was
slightly elevated allowing free air flow. 10 teams took part and everyone found the hide.
The space lent itself to being searched in sections and partnerships that were most successful
capitalised on gaining points by working together as a team and demonstrating a plan to clear the
area systematically from the get go.
Some lovely teamwork and searching on show. Well done to everyone!
Results as follows:
1st Jillian Marshall and Edna 90 points
2nd Karen Crawford and Tillie 86 points
3rd Antoinette Traynor and Tiggie 85.5 points
4th Joanne Maybin and Kim 79.5 points
5th Susan Anderson and Kuro 79points
6th Patrice Kerrigan and Poppet 78 points
