Over the coming months you’ll see more of our new visual identity, while still experiencing a fantastic platform that will continue to enable a generation of Global Citizens.

We would love to introduce to you our UK Partnerships Officer, Laura🤩
𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨? This photo was taken on the last day of teaching in the Hill Tribe school in Thailand. As teachers we had been given out stickers through the week to celebrate their hard work and because it was the last day the kids put stickers on my face for being a good teacher. It was so sad to say goodbye to them. These two girls were really enthusiastic about learning English, they said they want to be tour guides in the city when they are older.
𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮? I am inspired by the ways in which people come together to make change. It is easy to get disheartened by the state of the world sometimes. Meeting people who care and being a part of a team that aims to make a meaningful impact reminds me how powerful we truly are. When we try to spread love and kindness to others and the planet we make the world a better place.
𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮? Global citizenship to me mean no boundaries. When we act like global citizens, we are saying there is no limit to who I will try to help, or where I will try protect. Recognizing that the planet is my home, and it goes way beyond the small town in which I grew up. Being a global citizen is acting mindfully with the intention of avoiding negative impacts.
We are super excited to have her with us, be sure to welcome her in the comments💛💛💛
Today on the 11th of October is The . This day gives attention to the need to address the challenges faced by girls and to promote the empowerment of girls’ and their human rights✨
Girls are breaking boundaries and hurdles posed by stereotypes, including those living in marginalised communities‼️ Girls are creating a world that is pertinent to them and the generations to come. When girls are supported effectively, they have the potential to change the world🌏
While the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the digital platforms for connecting, over 2.2 billion people below the age of 25 still do not have internet access at home💻 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟. The gender gap for global internet users grew from 11% in 2013 to 17% in 2019 and this is lingering around 43% in some of the world’s most least developed countries.
But the gender digital divide is about more than just staying connected, it’s also about learning and income opportunities. Girls are less likely to use and own a device than boys, limiting their access to tech-related jobs and skills. We must address this exclusion and inequity that stretches across countries and generations so that we can lead the world into a digital revolution for all🙏🏼
Are you passionate about the environment and animal welfare? Join us in 2022 on our Elephants and Hill Tribes challenge and make an impact in rural Northern Thailand🐘🍃🐘
But how will you make an impact? You will volunteer at an ethical park known by so many as the Elephant Nature Park. Work on several important initiatives such as, clean ups, walking disabled dogs, and even spend time feeding the elephants🍉🍌

New blog alert🤩⚠️ Is Tanzania on your bucket list? Maybe not! But we have a new blog for you with all the reasons why you need to get yourself to Tanzania✈️ Hear from Lucy, our Student Engagement Coordinator, who’s been to Tanzania multiple times‼️ Head to the link below now.
Challenges Abroad | Why Tanzania should be on your bucket list! When choosing where to go abroad, it’s easy to get lost in the idea of travelling to South America or Asia (I am guilty of this!). And while it is my dream to get over to Africa, very few travellers will choose to visit.
The other week we got to catch up with who has been working and living overseas🤩✈️ We are so proud of Ellie and her positive attitude to make a difference in this world💛 Check out what she’s been up to since her time with Challenges Abroad👀
“I am currently working as a nanny in London and pursuing my postgraduate studies in Psychology. Volunteering in both Romania & Peru with Challenges Abroad taught me a great deal about myself as a person. It has taught me to acknowledge and be proud of the person I am. Challenges Abroad showed me there are other people who think like I do, who are passionate about the same things I am. It confirmed I am a person who can effectively and positively help others, whole communities, that I am a person who can ignite positive change. The experiences changed me because Challenges Abroad believed in me before I truly believed in myself. My experiences have impacted my life greatly and in the most wonderful way possible. I have learned to focus on the positive little things and pass on a little happiness to someone each day. I learned about myself and what I am capable of, my passions and my reasons for living. This is my favourite photo from volunteering in Peru, we both had the same necklace!”
Thanks Ellie for sharing your purpose with us, we are wishing you all the best in your studies🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Challenges Abroad Alumni, Jesse volunteered with us in Cambodia with and we got to ask her what she’s been up to💛💛
“Since volunteering with Challenges Abroad, I have finished my Bachelor of Nursing and started my graduate year! I’ve just started working on a surgical ward in a metro hospital having just completed 6 months in a rural hospital! Volunteering in Cambodia at the beginning of 2020 really grew my love for small communities and helping those who don’t always have access to healthcare which was really valuable in the rural hospital rotation of my graduate year. The skills and experiences I gained from working in a team whilst volunteering to help and aid others also made wonderful examples to share throughout my employment journey.
The work Challenges Abroad do, especially with children, is so important. Very grateful to have had this opportunity and I definitely recommend it to others!”
