Studio 91

Deep in the tracking stage of ‘s Album 2, sounding great so far (if we do say so ourselves). One track required some big, open sounding drums, so we stuck our Catalina club kit at the other end of the studio with some high overheads and tube mic on the kick for extra thud. Very pleased with the results!

A glorious couple of days tracking drums for the first few songs on ‘s next album, delivering the goods as always. Good vibes 🥁

The last few days of ‘s album session focused on keys and vocals, as well as some other finishing touches like percussion etc. This was a great chance to use our Leslie speaker cabinet for some organ which always sounds incredible!

Days two and three of ‘s album session were focused on bass and guitar tracking with in the hotseat. We used a combination of our P bass and Mustang bass, through our Orange AD200B for some lovely warm tones. Guitar wise we used our Marshall Plexi and Fender Princeton with Guy’s Neural DSP providing more of the effects. A very chilled tracking session, we had lots of fun collaborating with Max and Guy to find the right tones and parts for the songs!

Some shots from last week recording ‘s debut album. We recorded the whole album over five days, on day one it was a pleasure to once again work with getting the drums down. Tracking live with Max on keys, together they laid down a solid foundation to build on over the rest of the session. Very excited to get this project mixed!

We’ve been hard at work with for the last few months working on pre-production for his next album, writing and demoing as many songs as we can. Today we had the pleasure of bringing into the demoing process to make sense of our roughly programmed drum parts, it’s so exciting to start to hear these songs take proper shape. We start the recording process in a few weeks time, really looking forward to getting stuck in on this next album!

We recently got our AD30 back from repair, and it’s sounding better than ever! It’s always a go to for a lot of our guitar sounds, it covers a wide range of tones from clean to heavy crunch, and takes pedals really well.

We had a great few days with last week, working on three huge new tracks. Very pleased with how they are sounding so far, they’ll be back soon to track some vocals and other finishing touches. We were also lucky to have not only on drum tech duties keeping our Vistalite sounding fantastic, but also laying down some bass 🎸

🎸STUDIO SERVICES🥁 If you’ve been around the studio recently you’ll have noticed some brand new posters for the various services we offer here at Studio 91, in addition to our recording and rehearsal facilities. Earlier this week we had a brilliant few hours with recording part of a documentary exploring the life of composer Undine Smith Moore, which is being produced by for , where it will air at some point in July. Really looking forward to listening in to the final programme!

Huge riffs and big drums were the order of the day last Friday with recording their next single, our trusty kit as always providing some great sounds and the band’s JVM 210 taking care of the guitar tones. You can listen to their debut single ‘Bones’ now!

🚨New Release!🚨 Today saw the release of ‘s latest album, which was recorded, mixed and mastered here at Studio 91 over a few sessions last year. We love working on big projects like this, seeing an album through from start to finish is always something special. We’re so pleased with how it’s turned out, go and stream it everywhere now!

Our live room was looking vibey earlier this week for a session tracking drums with for his next single, we got some huge sounds from our trusty Vistalite kit! As well as drums we tracked some bass and vocals, can’t wait to mix this one!

We’ve had a great few days in the studio with .band tracking guitars, bass and vocals for their next release, it was a chance to crank up Matt and Sam’s ‘Kraken’ and ‘The Jack’ amps to get some monster tones. For the bass guitar we used Robin’s head into our 8x10 cab which never fails to deliver great sounds. Looking forward to their next session!

We’ve just wrapped up seven days in the studio with the incredible tracking vocals for her next album, she is a phenomenal vocalist which made the whole process extremely easy! We decided to track in our live room rather than vocal booth for some natural space. We used our Vintage 67 into one of our TG 2-500 pres, into our 2A and 456 HD.

Check out “Reside”, the latest synth-pop single from , produced, mixed and mastered here at Studio 91. We had great fun making some huge drum sounds as well as dreamy ambient guitars on this one, enjoy!

Bit of a different day last week, finishing off the final touches for a fantastic brand new project 👀 some additional guitar flourishes, a bit of vocal layering and some beautiful trombone. Super pleased with everything we’ve got down and can’t wait to get mixing!

Been lucky enough to do this for nearly 13 years full time now 😮 it’s never easy but it’s always absolutely rewarding, and I still love it completely. Thanks to everyone at 91 for all the memories so far and here’s to many more! Sam

Nothing beats this moment in a project - today we got together and listened through the final prints for something we started way back on a cold Feb morning in 2022 😮 The biggest, most ambitious, creative, challenging and rewarding vision we’ve ever been part of and something that’s totally consumed our headspace ever since. We’ve spent literally thousands of hours squeezing every last drop of ourselves into it, and however it finds its way into the world in the future we’ll forever be beyond proud of what we’ve created together. We stayed true to the process that got us here and celebrated the moment with tea and Oaties (and improvised future choreography) - a very special day and the beginning of a hugely exciting future.⁣

Giles has been a part of the studio team since 2015, and has recently returned to us full time to offer his expert services in live sound, drum tuning/tech, multi-instrumental tuition, engineering, as well as being a fully qualified music teacher!⁣

Giles will also be looking after:⁣

- Drum tuning & maintenance services⁣
- Music lessons on a variety of instruments⁣
