Exercise doesn’t have to last for hours, especially whilst it’s hot.

Make time in your diary to exercise this month📝

Less excuses and let’s move more in August.

Get outside🌳

There are lots of things we can do to achieve our goals in August. Whether your children are off school or you are struggling with the heat, just remember any movement is better than nothing.

Things happen, which we can’t beat ourselves up about, but when missing exercise becomes a habit that’s when we start to make excuses for this.

Exercise Benefits 🤗

This is just to name a few.

It seems obvious that we should all be physically active. It’s essential if you want to live a healthy and fulfilling life into old age.

The current advice is to exercise a minimum of 30 minutes every day, do you do this? Even if it’s just a simple walk during your lunch break or a more vigorous activity such as going to the gym, a run or an exercise class 🏋🏼‍♀️

Try to increase your movement today and see how much better you feel afterwards 😊

How it started vs How it’s going 🤗

4.5 months ago, I only had 2 exercise classes a week. Jump forward to now, we are now doing 10 classes a week (plus swimming lessons) with MORE to come so watch this space in the next month 😆

Starting from scratch and building your own classes in incredible hard, but all your shares, likes and anyone that is attending my classes I thank you so so much! I love this job and want to keep building my little fitness business.

How to build a healthy meal 🥗

Creating meals with a balance of carbs, protein, fats, fibre and fruit & veg for a colourful nourishing plate.

🥔 Starchy carbs, ideally whole grain for added fibre. Complex carbs like potatoes and pasta break down into glucose and slowly enter our bloodstream to give us energy.

🍎🥕 Fruit and Vegetables, ideally leafy green vegetables provides lots of vitamins and minerals. Aiming for at least 5 portions a day, a typical portion is 80g.

🍗 Protein, including 2 portions of fish a week (one to be oily). We should be eating 0.75g of protein for each kg we weigh, those more active it increases to 1.6g per kg.

🥑 Healthy Fats, in moderation they give us a concentration of energy. Also known as unsaturated fats they also aid in lowering the risk of developing heart disease, improving blood cholesterol levels, helping with blood sugar control and reducing inflammation.

🚫Cutting down our daily sugar and salt intake is just as important for unwanted calorie consumption as well as increased chance of illness‼️

Healthy plates = hormone balancing 🙌🏼

Exercise = Endorphins 😁

One often overlooked benefit is the impact of physical activity on mental health.

Exercise causes your brain to release ‘feel good’ chemicals like endorphins and serotonin that help improve your mood.

Even a short burst of 10 minutes of brisk walking increases our mental alertness, energy and positive mood ☺️

So get your body moving today, no matter how long!

Menstrual Cycle 🔄

It is important as women to understand how our body works.
It is important be in tune with how our body feels during different times of the month.

Every woman is different, so you need to find out what works for you.

During the first half of your cycle, you have extra energy. You could try using this to do higher intensity exercise.

During the second half of your cycle – and as your period is near, you might less energetic. This means you might like to switch to gentler styles of movement such as walking, cycling, yoga or Pilates.

Exercise can help support you during your period as it can help with low mood or feeling irritable. This releases endorphins (feel good hormones), which will improve mood and can help reduce pain of cramps.

Food Diary 😋

The Great Outdoors☀️🌳

Okay I know the weather hasn’t been then best recently but how much better do we feel when it is nice outside?

There are so many benefits to being outside whether it be going for a walk, doing an exercise class or just chilling in the garden🌻

Here are some benefits of being outdoors;
1️⃣Reduces stress levels and improves mood.
2️⃣Feel better about yourself.
3️⃣Improves concentration and focus.
4️⃣Sleep better.
5️⃣Increase in the Sunshine Vitamin (Vitamin D).
6️⃣More motivation to exercise.
7️⃣Boosted immune function.
Any many more.

Making it a habit of spending regular time outdoors can do a lot to boost physical and emotional wellness.

So go and enjoy the ☀️
