We celebrated our day off for some family time as our wee princess turned 1! Hailey was born in the year of the rabbit and she loves rabbits so we thought for her 1st birthday we get her a rabbit cake ♥️ She has chinese symbol name 希 which means “HOPE” she certainly has bought our family lots of hope as before she was born her uncle (my older brother) was very critical in ICU for 4 months where we are so thankful for Freemans Hopsital on our doorstep for saving his life! It’s made us realize how important it is to have family time as life is so precious.

Please note, we be having a bit more family time off next week and we will be closed Monday 9th Sept - Thursday 12th Sept.

Just a reminder, we are open TODAY as usual however we will be closed tommorow Wednesday 4th September for some family time as our little one turns 1 💕

Reopen back as normal Thursday 5th September!

We are Open Today Bank Holiday Monday 26th August! For the last week of August we are open 7 days a week as we will be taking some family time off in September for few days. (closed wed 4th Sept and the following week Mon 9th Sept - Thurs 12th Sept).

For our Gluten-Free patrons! We have been overwhelmed with gluten free orders. We would normally label them with a sticker however we have ran out of our label stickers. We are awaiting for them to be delivered and expect them to be back in stock Tuesday/wednesday! In the meantime we will have to hand write any Gluten free orders for today and possibly Tuesday.

I am very sad that I have to post this in which the remarks made tonight left one of our staff in tears! As a family business we appreciate every business that comes through our doors as this provides a living for my family! Like any business, the busiest day is the weekend and although we would love to wok these orders in a timely manner however please note, my husband is already bashing the wok at full speed with my father in law who is at pension age! Everyone in the kitchen is working as fast as they can and unfortunately they can’t work any more faster as we cook every dish to each order! We have switched off our online platform at one point to deal with the demand and we can only say sorry for the wait. But in no circumstance can I tolerate abuse given to my staff! This post is just a reminder that it doesn’t cost anything to be kind 🙏🏼

The last week of summer we are open 7 days a week! Open Bank Holiday Monday 26th August however to let you guys know in advance, we be taking a wee break for some family time in September!

We are back from visiting our Family (let’s say taking 2 children on holiday is like training for the olympics… HARD WORK, but we created loving memories). The girls met their great grandparents, our grandma has never held a baby and a toddler for 20years plus so it was such an emotional moment when they met 🥹

Hi All! We have been enjoying the week off with the arrival of our little princess who was born on 04/09/2023 weighting a healthy 6.3lbs.

Since we took over of South Gosforth Chinese in May 2023 we’ve had quite a journey with one of our online ordering platforms “JustEat”, they charge businesses like us 14% plus VAT for using their platform. When transferring the business to our name (change of ownership) they were holding a significant amount of money from when we started trading for SEVERAL WEEKS. It subsequently took longer than estimated to set us up properly (approx 2 months) they at even one point listed our business as a chicken takeaway 🤦🏻‍♀️

We were left in a horrific position where we had to DIG DEEP into our savings to pay rent, ongoing stock, utilities, wages etc since they were holding our hard earned money from the sales we had generated on the “JustEat” platform since day 1. We loaned from our family as we used up all of our saving, we were fortunate to have savings but we were also fortunate to have a good relationship with our suppliers in which some stock that was purchased was put on credit for 5 weeks.

We told ourselves we never EVER want to be in a position where we had no control of our income of our sales for our business and be in that position where we had to wait several weeks to be paid. 😔

This is where our journey began in finding a solution in launching our own platform. We are hoping all our current customers can order DIRECT from us 🙏🏼 This is were we do not have to pay a commission for a service which affected our PERSONAL LIVES and which it has also done us as a business… NO JUSTICE. To this date we have not received a satisfactory response to our complaint in which they have already taken thousands of pounds 💷 from us for commission (an apology in this circumstance is just not acceptable for the difficult situation and stress they had put us through) 😭

We wanted to share some good news that is personal to us. We are expecting a new addition to our family. Our first child was born 2 weeks early and we are not sure whether baby no2 will make it in time for school 😉 and make a early appearance like her sister. However we wanted to provide you with an update if we are closed unexpectedly… this may be due to an early arrival of our new addition.

Ever wondered how much a Chinese Takeaway was in the 1970’s? If only…..

South Gosforth Chinese has been under new management since May 2023. You may have noticed that we were closed during this time for maintenance as we wanted to start operating the business the right way. 💪🏻

As new management we would like to let you know moving forward with all the good stuff what is yet to come. We have over 20+ years experience in the restaurant and takeaway industry we have an exceptional level of standard of service we want to deliver. We will be updating you shortly on our page what we have been working on, but in the meantime we wanted to keep you posted on some news.

South Gosforth Chinese was inspected on Tuesday 13th June and we have received our result….. 🥁

Newcastle City council have awarded us with a
4 Star Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (we were aiming to get a 5 star in all honesty). Although we are slightly disappointed that we didn’t get top marks, we are however quite proud as we are a family business and this is the first time we have gotten together to work as a team. As a new team working together for the first time, we have had a good 2 months now adapting to each others working styles. We strive and aim to continuesly improve and hope you can support us along the way in our journey.
