ℹ️ Information post on the Astra-K
As most of you will be aware, there is a common issue on the Astra-K where the Earth pin on the outer rear lamp clusters melt due to a poor design in the connector.
As a result of this, it causes the connector and loom to get extremely hot and in some cases causes fires.
In the below example you can see how the pin in the plug has melted, then further down in the physical plug on the lamp it’s got so hot the pin has fell into the lamp cluster partially.
A couple of big giveaways you’ve got this issue:
- one side light will be dimmer than the other.
- a message on the dash about having a bulb out.
Make sure you check this before your Astra-K catches fire!

Lucie travelled two hours to us after three screens had been replaced previously on an incorrect diagnosis.
We were able to diagnose the fault from the videos she sent then order the part for her arrival.
Replacement HMI2.5 fitted and programmed and she’s over the moon that she can have a working radio for her road trip on Saturday.
She also had a headlight out so we replaced that FOC for the dark journey home.
