Paul handed over a cheque to Havens Community Hub this morning for £300 Newhaven Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting. This was money raised last year in Paul’s capacity as Mayor of Newhaven. Julie Terry, who works for the charity was delighted with the donation which will help support their valued services including Community Cars, Happy Clubs and the Food Co-operative Scheme.

The team at Meeching Estate Agents will be joining the nation on Monday 19 September to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Following a life of dedication to duty, she was the only monarch that most of us have ever known, and we commemorate her incredible 70 year reign.

As Mayor of Newhaven and a councillor, we have such wonderful memories of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II visiting Newhaven in 2013. The town was extremely honoured to welcome both Her Majesty and HRH Prince Philip.

Please join us tomorrow, Sunday 11 September, at 4 pm on Memorial Green for the Proclamation of our new Sovereign. This traditional event takes place in towns and cities across the country to announce the accession which took place immediately after the Queen’s death. It represents one of the first occasions for people to gather and reflect on this moment in our nation’s history when the reign of our longest-serving monarch ended and our new sovereign succeeded.

Anyone wishing to lay flowers in memory of the Queen can place these on the War Memorial, on Memorial Green which is located at the end of Bridge Street, just off the one way system.

An invitation to the people of Newhaven to join together on Memorial Green, South Way, Newhaven for the reading of the Proclamation of King Charles III at 4pm on Sunday 11 September.

This morning's 10 minute speaker was Paul Boswell from Meeching Estate Agents, . Paul told us how and why he started Meeching Estate Agency in 1999, and how the business had become the oldest established business in the town.

His love of cameras shone through as he explained how technology had changed estate agency practice over the years and why he loved to use a 'proper' camera.

Yesterday evening, Paul was voted in as Mayor of Newhaven and expects another busy year in this demanding role. Well done Paul! Newhaven Town Council
