Abscisic Acid (ABA) is a phytohormone involved in numerous plant processes, including growth, development, and response to stress. It is also found in a variety of animals including insects. In this recent article, researchers looked at ABA concentrations in phytophagous insects. They also performed immunohistochemical staining of different E. solidaginis tissues using Agrisera AB ABA antibody (AS09 446) and showed that ABA was localised in salivary glands, suggesting that phytophagous insects may synthesise and secrete ABA to manipulate their host plants. IBA1 (Ionized Calcium Binding Adapter Molecule 1) is an actin-binding protein that is expressed specifically in activated microglia.
