Lab Fit was commissioned to carry out a 3.5-month refurbishment, transforming the ground floor into specialised labs with new HVAC systems, and the first floor into an open-plan lab space for Qkine. Despite client-driven variations and a delayed timeline, the project was completed within budget, resulting in a high-quality facility designed to exceptional standards.

Project Highlights:

Ground Floor: Converted existing offices into laboratories with new partitions, specialist equipment (benching, Trespa worktops, sinks), and a sophisticated HVAC system.

First Floor: Redesigned to include an open-plan lab space, new WCs, a kitchen/breakout area, and meeting rooms. Also installed new air conditioning and FCU systems.

Extras: Supplied all office furniture, and installed a gas monitoring system, access controls, and CCTV. Completed extensive painting and decorating work.

Position: Experienced Estimator


Job Summary

As an Experienced Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our project planning and ex*****on process. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare accurate cost estimates for projects, ranging from small-scale re-fits to full turnkey projects. You will work closely with the our project management team, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure that our tenders are competitive and aligned with our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cost Estimation: - Prepare detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services based on project plans, specifications, and site visits.

2. Tender Management: - Collaborate with the team to develop comprehensive and competitive tenders, ensuring compliance with project requirements and client specifications.

3. Vendor and Supplier Relations: - Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and updated information on materials and services.

4. Project Evaluation - Analyse construction project documents and drawings to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.

5. Market Research: - Stay informed about industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and market conditions to optimise cost estimation accuracy.

Requirements:


1. Experience: - Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully bidding and managing a range of projects.

2. Education - A qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field is preferred but not mandatory.

3. Technical Skills: - Proficient in using industry-standard estimating software and tools. Strong analytical and mathematical abilities to interpret complex project data accurately.

4. Construction Knowledge - In-depth understanding of construction processes, materials, and building codes.

5. Communication - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with project teams and present estimates to clients.

6. Attention to Detail - Meticulous in reviewing project documents and identifying potential discrepancies or cost implications.

7. Time Management - Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
