Just for comparison gang. I completed two lots of exercise today. The first reading was after 25 minutes of roller skating at SKATES. The second reading was after one hour of purposeful walking while wearing a 12kilo chest rig. Both I must say, have their benefits to better health. One of them however was a whole lot more fun. I'll leave it to you to decide which... lol.

These are the results you can expect after just 25 minutes on our rink. Imagine the results after 2 hours! Then imagine how much fitter and healthier you would be if you visited consistently once a week. Now imagine what an athlete you will become if you joined us for just two sessions a week!

The last two weeks have been a little quiter gang. At our after school skating clubs as different schools have more time off as well as other things on their agendas to work through. Next week we are back to full power in all our schools. We have however started a few and as always it's great to meet new students as well as ones who have already been with us from last term. Big thanks to all the schools which have put their faith in us to bring the joy of roller skating to the younglings of our island.
Lanesend. St saviours. Godshill. Bembridge and of course Carisbrooke.

Festival opening times.
Hey gang. You will find our opening times over the festival weekend on our booking site. If you can book it. We are open... Security will allow our patrons through. Although Tuesday Wednesday. You may have to drive to us using the normally closed barrier on the Riverside side of the Quay. X

A big part of an entrepreneurs mindset is. There must be a way? I have told myself this many times. Not least of all when I needed to find a bigger building but had no chance of affording such a thing. I found another way...
We will soon be running our PRE SCHOOL SKATE CLUB I want to add some new skating aids to our kit. I can get some small enough. But only from the States. At £108 a pop plus delivery and import tax! I took a deep breath gang. And returned to my default setting.
THERE MUST BE ANOTHER WAY?

So gang. Am I a fan of these skating aids? Not really. If your child is moving in their skates. In my humble opinion. This will not help them progress. However. In some cases. Your child is clinging to our rail. Terrified! These have a place. Confidence is everything in skating. So gang. I have dived in. And purchased some. They are not cheap. But I feel its a missed opportunity. If a child misses out on the joy of skating. Through fear. And besides. Its only money. NOTE. These will not be given out as a play thing for your child. If they are getting it. All be it slowly. They will be best served. By their own perseverance. I have a plan to purchase some smaller units for some of our pre school club skaters. Once I have sourced some small enough. And only if these sessions become popular enough to warrant the cost...X

Today gang. We are not only carrying out our work at the wonderful Totland primary school. But today we will also be making our first visit to Godshill primary.
We are so looking forward to getting to know them all over the coming term.

Okay gang. We have decided. With your help to open our first pre school skate club. To start with we will run every Friday morning 10-12. If demand is there. We will open more days. We would love to just be open. But this comes with a cost and until we know there is the demand. We simply can't afford to.
We are super exited to be able to offer this at the incredibly low price of just £5 per child. Our hope is this is within the budget of the many. This also includes one free coffee or tea for Mom or Dad.

WHAT THIS SESSION IS

A chance for the very young to skate with those their own age.

A chance for pre schoolers to be active by discovering a love of roller skating.

A chance for both our younglings and parents to meet new friends.

WHAT THIS SESSION IS NOT.
A coaching session.
We have found the very young struggle to take instruction and just want to go! We are happy to advise parents based on our experience. For the most part. Let them go. They will amaze you. As they do us

A crèche
We expect parents be there and attentive to their child's needs. At all times. Once you visit us consistently. You will find the kids are super happy skating around on their own. This is when you will get some you time. And enjoy that coffee better... lol

FOOTIE WEEKEND AT SEACLOSE PARK.
I love to see our youth taking part in sports of all types. it's a real joy to see a big tournament kicking of in Newport. This does however mean parking is a problem on the Quay.
Drop n go or walk in if you can. Although some spaces do appear late afternoon... x

JUST A HEADS UP GANG.
Monday is normally a day for us to rest after a busy weekend at SKATES. But as this Monday is a Bank Holiday. I have added two daytime disco sessions for you. Just incase you fancy a cheeky Bank holiday skate. X

When I turned 50 gang I decided to leave my secure job and final salary pension and take a chance on me. I burnt my proverbial boat at the shoreline and put everything i had on black. Or if you like. One last throw of the dice...
It's been a whirlwind seven years since. With ups and downs arriving in equal measure. Although we are having some success. Thank you. The reality is we are one bad month away from danger. And two from disaster.
I don't feel the stress of this reality and the work I do in the service of others. Is the absolute joy of my life. But the noise is constant and my mind never still. Gaps have started to appear in my day. My default is to fill these gaps with more. More projects. More work. So I have decided to now use this time to be present. And care for me. I get exercise from skating. I have no trouble hitting my 10.000 steps during my working day. What I need is quite time. Time to relax and reflect. As do most of us.
Dont forget to take time for you gang. Start a hobby. Get active. And take 30 minutes to just be present. Even if it is on a bed of nails...🤷‍♂️

Heads up gang.
If you have received an email saying the game is cancelled. This is for our combat site ISLAND RECON not for today's Skating at SKATES.
My bad. I thought it would only go out to our airsoft players. Please ignore this. X

Finally we got to meet our keystage 2 skaters at Lanesend primary. And they did not disappoint. Full of life and enthusiasm. By sessions end all where skating and some trying out new skills to further advance their skating.
I would also like to welcome Godshill primary to our after schools skate club train. We are very much looking forward to meeting them next term. X

Today gang we had our first visit to Bembridge primary school. What a super friendly welcome we received.
While we where setting up who should walk in to run his after school club but the Legend that is John Cattle.
Chuffed though I am to be now working in schools. It was at this moment I realised John had set the standards on taking four wheels into schools. Long! before 4D was even an idea on a drawing board.
It is not lost on me gang that we are doing well. But that it helps when your standing on the shoulders of giants.
And its a privilege to do so. X

It's been on my mind all last week gang.
How do we get 20 keystage 1 nippers bubblewraped in safety equipment. And fit them all with rollerskates. In double quick time. So they can all get value from their SKATE CLUB session ?
Armed with the memories of our first visit. We arrived with a plan. We took a deep breath. Dipped our heads. And took a run up!
We smashed it. Everyone kitted up and skating in no time giving the little ones a good 50 minutes skate time. All where amazing and some. SUPER FAST! We skated. We danced. We fell. We laughed. We fell. We got back up again. All showed great character while working up a good sweat. By sessions end. All where puffed out. Incliding us. Fabulous! X

With so much work to do every day its not often I get a chance to just sit and be present. The noise is constant gang. Yesterday morning after getting some prep work done I did take a moment, with a double expresso. To do just that. 20 minutes by myself. In the moment. A moment of gratitude that I am privileged to do the work I do. On the island I love. Fabulous!
A busy day followed with a session in TINYTOWN then on to three sold out skate sessions. Hosting two delightful party's within. A slower day ahead today with just the one party within the three sessions running.
Thanks as always gang for your on going support. With that support I shall continue to improve every area of 4D as and when I can afford to.
