πŸ“Ή πŸ“Έ Flashback Friday πŸ“Ή πŸ“Έ

The demolition of the Hogan Stand, Croke Park.

Today's flashback takes us back to 1999, before we even had a digital archive.

We went old school for today and got the photo albums out and scanned this project in so we could share. πŸ““ πŸ“²

Given the time of year, with an incredible hurling final last Sunday, and a mouth watering football final to look forward this week, we’re looking back to 1999 when we had the honour of being awarded the demolition of the Hogan Stand, Croke Park.

With the Cusack Stand looking resplendent having been upgraded on a previous phase, it was now the Hogan’s turn.

Roll in the wrecking ball, a crawler crane and lads in man-riding baskets, with a few hoists, and Liebherr 932s, in the days before we had the high reach the demolition of the Hogan Stand began, to make way for the redevelopment of the new Croke park that we know today.

All of this was completed without touching a blade of grass on the famous Croke Park turf.

It’s interesting to look back and think about how differently we would approach this job today.

This time we are taking you back to 2010, where Tinnelly Group undertook the removal of the Continuous Ship Unloader (CSU) from the jetty at Kilroot Power Station.

The coal for the station was delivered by sea to the jetty located on the north shore of Belfast Lough.

The CSU was installed in 1988 and was used until 1997 to transfer coal from the vessel to the overland conveyor system. From 1997, coal has been delivered in self-discharging ships and the CSU remained stationary on the jetty for approximately 12 years until Tinnelly Group were engaged to complete its’ removal.
