Transitioning from Fat Loss to Muscle Building 💪 Don’t be that person that tries to maintain the shape they’ve got into for a summer and then end up in the exact same spot in 12 months after not spending enough/anytime in a surplus and giving your body the best chance of building new muscle tissue. Learn when to pace yourself… Ever chased a hero rep or two in your first set of an isolation movement and then subsequently falling off a cliff for the last couple sets? Pick your moments, if leaving a couple reps in reserve on the first set allows you to achieve more total reps across your three sets, then guess what? You’re creating more stimulus! Does this apply to all exercises? I’d say no. Typically my compound movements I’ll go after absolutely everything for each set. These are where I’m looking for really chase progressions through load and rep increases. Then my isolation work, where there is typically less stability and often a little more room for form to dip through ego lifting, I may look to keep a rep in the tank on the first set to allow for an overall increase in volume across the 3 sets. Sustainable Dieting: Gradual Approach to Effective Weight Loss Don’t try and go into a dieting phase/cut/deficit… (whatever you want to call it) at your limits. Your setup should be getting you in a position where a deficit is being created but leaving you with progression to grow into the phase (dropping food/increasing expenditure) as or before things begin to plateau. If you start too aggressively, it won’t be sustainable, you’ll burnout, training performance will go to pot which can then lead to muscular atrophy (losing all the gains you’ve spent months building) and you’re more likely to break your diet, binge eating, not doing your cardio and then the vicious cycle begins! Same as any other method- it needs to be sustainable, enjoyable and with a journey ahead for growth. That’s where having a coach to create and adjust that plan for you becomes vital. Don’t make the mistake of chasing short term fixes or going in blind and guessing everything. How else can you apply progressive overload? More weight isn’t your only option to progress your training & develop your physique. Your ego isn’t going to help you build muscle. Controlling your eccentrics, adding in pauses, spending more time under tension and completing a more continuous reps (rather than 30s between each rep) however, will help you build muscle/get stronger. STAGE DAYS REEL. 2 days that gave the rest of my year SO much. Focus, discipline, motivation, joys, and a hell of a load of good memories and love. Memories for life, that have also changed my life. 🫶 From pulling up at ultraflex for a pump session before show 1 to wrapping things up after the WNBF show and saying goodbye to boys that have been on the same journey as me for the last however many weeks/months. We will get that catch up session in boys! To the man that orchestrated it all @tomstocktonn I still owe you so much for helping me achieve something that for years, I didn’t think was possible… contentment in how I look. Prep can be hard, but it teaches you so much. I feel more present in moments now, I appreciate everything to the full and love more than I have before. MORE LIFE ❤️

Shots from this mornings check-in and a run down of where things are at. Bit of a flat look this morning. Fasted and post cardio in these shots, but body fat still dropping off at a nice rate. Posing wise I’m still chipping away and getting feedback and addressing the work ons. TAKE YOUR TIME 🕰️ Cable lateral raise (of any form) is a wicked exercise. Constant tension, isolating the lateral deltoid without hammering your CNS Shoulder pressing for your life. BUT, lots of composure and control is necessary. Stop ripping at these and swinging like a maniac, channel that energy into bracing, controlling and dial into that mind to muscle connection a little more. STOP HOLDING ON 🛑 If I told you over an 8 week period you can increase your deficit by 3000 calories and it takes up no more time and very little extra effort you’d snap my hand off right? Get out what you put in. Don’t fall at the final hurdle of execution. You’ve got the motivation and discipline to get on and do your cardio, go that extra step and accelerate your results. Not only will you burn more calories in that session, working your heart harder will lead to a great physiological impact post session with your metabolism increasing leading to burn more energy (fat) and therefore creating a larger deficit. Why I film working sets. It’s not just about content for the gram (although in this case that’s exactly what it’s ended up as) I’m looking at my form and seeing if I can execute the set better. 🎥 Assess your form regularly and reset movements if you feel your form is getting sloppy. If you drop a couple of reps or have to lower the weight to achieve better execution then you’ll actually see more progression overtime.
