With two home educated kiddos, I love this!
Adults get to take on the role of the Taskmaster while being assisted by the ACTUAL Little Alex Horne!
Local homeschoolers, get involved! 😁🙃
Home Educators! You can now join in with the Taskmaster Education shenanigans. But how and why should you get involved?
As you will know, Taskmaster is a joyful, if silly, TV show where comedians complete nonsensical tasks to impress a giant. take that concept and uses it to develop problem solving, reasoning, teamwork and creativity in young people. We know, it’s great, isn’t it!
runs in schools across the UK, but we’d love home educated youngsters to join in and reap the benefits of the Taskmaster Education approach to learning as well.
One way to get involved is to download the Taskmaster app. Once you’ve completed the Solo Tasking task, share your attempt to [email protected] and we’ll score it and add it to the league table of Home Educated children. Download here... https://taskmaster.tv/app
Additionally, you can pit yourself against the readers of Aquila Children's Magazine by taking on Taskmaster Education in the tasks that are set every other month in the magazine designed to nurture curious young minds. Subscribe here... https://www.aquila.co.uk/shop/product/aquila
Our YouTube channel has all sorts of Taskmaster inspired clips and tasks. This playlist has an ever growing collection of tasks that are suitable for children to try on their own or in groups wherever they may be, with more to come later in the year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGE2wUGLpQU&list=PLBCnBUlqwKvoNn6tPVLdO6e_8Gf5bgeFJ
Taskmaster Club is now available for home educators to join in with as well. Groups can meet in local hub to run their own sessions with one of the adults getting to take on the role of the Taskmaster while being assisted by the actual Little Alex Horne.
Alex sets the tasks to test the contestants’ powers of ingenuity, creativity and teamwork and the club Taskmaster gets to dish out the points. The Club follows a similar format to the show but all of the tasks are Team Tasks. The contestants work in teams to attempt a Prize Task, Warm-up Task, Main Task and (if you have time) an If You Have Time Task.
The Prize Task is designed to develop oracy skills as the contestants put their reasoning skills to test by explaining why their entry is the best and worthy of 5 points. The Warm-up Task gets the teams warmed-up as they have to think and act quickly against the clock.
The Main Task is based on a classic task from Taskmaster itself. The teams will build, design, create, rehearse, perform and present to impress their Taskmaster before seeing how the comedians got on at a similar task. More often than not, the comedians do much worse.
Everyone gets a chance to shine at Taskmaster Club because the tasks test a wide range of skills and there are always many different ways they can be approached. So, it’s never the same teams or individuals who do well, and they learn to appreciate and value each other’s input.
Above all though, Taskmaster Club is fun! The children and adults involved all enjoy themselves while developing their relationships with each other as well as many other key life skills.
