After a down pour we manage to get the SDL juniors and DMlL out again. Good join team for helping with the squeegeeing!
On a beautifully maintained East Devon golf course, Stover triumphed over last year's Palairet winners, Tiverton, with a score of 4.5 to 0.5, securing a spot in the quarterfinals. The matches were played with excellent sportsmanship, and the final score did not fully reflect the competitiveness of the games. The enthusiastic on-course support, along with the caddies, served as Stover's invaluable 11th man, for which all players are deeply appreciative. The attached picture features the players and some of the supporters from the day. The next round is scheduled for July 28th.
Today’s sunrise signals the start of the annual Early Bird Stableford. Stunning views of the golf course this time of the morning. Good luck to all competitors.

The week of congratulating people for their golfing exploits continues and this time it’s the turn of Jason Marshall. Playing in the Wednesday Stableford Jason got a hole in one on the 192 yard 15th 👏🏻👏🏻 After securing his ace the reality of over 140 fellow thirsty competitors awaiting his appearance at the 19th hole began to dawn but he did uphold the long standing tradition of supplying drinks.
The Ladies Club Championships took center stage on Tuesday with 36 holes played in a single day under glorious sunshine. The morning round saw several impressive scores. In the Nett competition, Katy Cooney and Lesley Pascoe shared the lead with impressive Nett 71s. Lesley’s gross score of 82 also put her ahead in the scratch competition, leading by 5 shots over Nuan-Anong Forsyth.
In the second round, Yim Sun Chan scored a Nett 69 and Hilary Richards posted a Nett 72, both making strong bids for the title. However, it was Katy Cooney who ultimately claimed the Nett Club Champion title by following her Nett 71 with a Nett 72, achieving a three-under total. Lesley Pascoe, undeterred in the Scratch Championship, delivered the lowest scores in both the morning and afternoon rounds to win by 10 shots with a total of 169, securing the Scratch Club Championship ahead of Sarah Arnold.
The 18-hole medal and Bacchus Jug competition was closely contested, with Jo Wright, Debbie Bunclark, and Rickie Pawsey all tying with Nett 71s. Jo Wright emerged victorious thanks to a better back nine. The 9-hole Stableford was won by Janet Emery, who achieved 3 Nett eagles on her way to victory.
Congratulations to All Winners!

Huge congratulations to the 2024 Men’s Club Champions Matt Lyne (scratch) and Neil Harrison (Nett). Day one saw some sunshine but also some wind but this did not stop some great scores being posted. In the 2nd group out was Jason Marshall who posted 5 birdies en route to a level par round nett 69. It took some time before his nett score was bettered but that feat was achieved by Neil Harrison with a fantastic Nett 68 including a birdie on the 9th. Previous winner Matt Lyne came flying out the traps with a birdie birdie start before carding a then course record 71 to lead the scratch event by 1 overnight. Day 2 saw calmer albeit greyer conditions. Greg Wilson was the first to show from the pack with a nett 69 to follow up his 77. However Neil Harrison was not to be denied as he made a birdie 2 before carding a nett 69 for a 4 shot victory and duly crowned nett club champion. In the scratch two time champion Archie Christophers was on the charge. Starting the day 5 shots adrift Archie went on to post a new course record of 69 to set a target of 145. Matt Lyne and Jason Marshall were in the last group and the lead changed hands a few times before Jason finished on 147, 2 adrift of Archie. Matt would par the last to equal Archie’s total and force a playoff. The drama unfolded in the sudden death playoff down the 10th hole as Archie drove the par 4 and Matt put it into the green side bunker. Matt played a great bunker shot and after Archie’s eagle putt grazed the hole they moved onto the 18th with a pair of birdie 3’s. On the 18th Archie found trouble off the tee which ultimately meant par was enough to seal victory for Matt and his 2nd club championship.
Final scores Nett
1st Neil Harrison 137
2nd Matt Lyne 141
3rd Jason Marshall 141
Final scores Gross
1st Matt Lyne 145
2nd Archie Christophers 145
3rd Jason Marshall 147

All in aid of a great cause!
How such was this last year. Amazing!
Get stuck in again. Only a few weeks to go check it out!
Well here it is The Course of 2024……
I’m sorry that I (FOXY) cant be here this weekend but what an honour it is to be part of an exciting era here at STOVER GOLF CLUB……..
I think we all owe a massive thank you to Jason Brooks and his band of men to get the course on the past 3 years to what it will be this weekend!
It truly has been one of the most amazing journeys watching how a golf course is produced. From the early organisations from the beginning, John Mitchell did a lot of the negotiating and also Colin Greenwell who sadly died a few years ago. Graham Green, Andy Carpenter and James Langmead were on the original A382 committee.
Richard Pascoe and the committee making everything possible, allowing Jason and the team to have the machines possible to make the course the way it is!
I don’t get out very much playing but this last month I have played in 5 pro am’s I can say I haven’t seen anything that beats this course.
For me personally having the opportunity to coach was always going to be a struggle but The management team and Jason allowed me to have the old 8th fairway to coach. Thank you for all of your patience whilst i ferried clients and juniors up and down the public footpath.
Roses are red and violets are blue
You guys this weekend have some golfing to do!
Now is the time for all the hard work you’ve put into your game to pay off, so book up the next chapter in your pursuit of perfection 🏌️
