We're one of the world's oldest inns. Sir Walter Raleigh was arrested here on July 19 1603 for treason and taken to the Tower of London. His cousin, Sir Francis Drake was also a regular. We were delighted to welcome a film crew and cast here yesterday. Sorry but we are not allowed to say what itβs for. We are always excited though for the opportunity to showcase our historic Inn and Ashburton on screen and cannot wait for the series to be released. Stay tuned for more updates!

Today's cake by Annie. Home grown and home made Rhubarb and Strawberry Jam Victoria Sponge with edible petals grown in the Secret Garden at the Old Exeter Inn. It's gorgeous.
For two years our lovely gardener Annie has been carefully creating the Secret Garden at the Old Exeter Inn. Stunning wildflowers all themed around an ancient apothecary garden! There's even little strawberries growing in the walls. It's a fantastic sun trap and a super place to relax with a drink in hand. Party Bookings and Private Hire taken throughout the year. The Secret Garden accommodates 40 with table and bar seating. It also has its own Garden Bar and Pizzeria. For indoor and outdoor parties you can also book the Tap Room and pull your own pints! The Churchill Bar at the Old Exeter Inn has been renamed the Elizabeth Bar after our beloved late Queen Elizabeth II. The stunning photograph of Her Majesty (taken April 15 1952), which arrived this afternoon, is now in place at the pub for everyone to admire.Β
Mr Churchill's photograph is to have a new place inside the Inn.
