Last week James & Ashleigh hosted a panel at the Building My Skills Mock Interview Day 📝

Over 300 students and 30 businesses from the North East and Tees Valley took part at Vertu Motors Arena, which was such a cool arena 🤩

Here’s what Esh Group said about the event:

“The Mock Interview Day is the culmination of the award-winning Building My Skills programme, which aims to raise students’ career aspirations by providing them with a rounded introduction to the world of work and an insight into sectors and jobs that they may not otherwise be aware of.

Business panels will host mock interviews throughout the day, giving students a firsthand experience of what an interview would be like and preparing them for the future.”

🍗 Day 5 of Work Experience 🍗

Well that’s Cole’s week of work experience complete🫸🏼🫷🏼

He spent the morning with our Site Team who had a few repair jobs to attend to👨🏻‍🔧

Then we let Cole pick where he wanted to go for lunch, to thank him for all of his hard work this week & he picked a good’n 😋

🧑🏼‍💻 Day 4 of Work Experience 🧑🏼‍💻

Cole has been in our office today working with all different members of the WORR Metal Fabrication & Services Ltd team ⚙️

From Accounts, to estimating, planning, project managing & procurement he has learnt about lots of different jobs & why they are all equally important in helping a business run smoothly ✔️

🚗 Day 3 of Work Experience 🚗

Cole & I have been out on the road today 🚘

We started our morning at AMD Specialist Coatings learning all about the powder coating process, which was so rewarding to watch 🤩

The lovely Katie explained the full process from start to finish, and even showed us a top secret product 😉

It was very obvious how much care and attention they put into their work and we loved it - she even offered Cole some work experience 🎨

Next we headed over to Express Lasers Ltd for a really insightful tour by Thomas. The machinery they have is seriously impressive, I’m always blown away by what you can make with a laser cutter🔬

Thomas gave Cole some great tips that he can take away & stressed how important it is to have a great team around you - we couldn’t agree more at WORR Metal Fabrication & Services Ltd 👫👫

To finish off we popped by for a quick snap with one of our projects we’re really proud of 📸

📚Day 2 of Work Experience📚

Today Cole & I visited Marden High School where we told Year 9s all about what we do at WORR Metal Fabrication & Services Ltd🔩

It’s so important that we spread awareness of all of the engineering opportunities we have right on our doorstep here in the North East📍

After all these young people are our future workforces👩🏻‍🏭

🌟Work Experience Week🌟

This week we have Cole joining the team doing work experience 📝

Today we’ve been for a tour of Phoenix Steel Ltd which was mahooosive & very impressive. We learnt all about how the steel comes on coils and the complex process of how it is then made into the flat sheets that we receive ⚙️

I love working in Engineering because it’s exciting, it’s challenging & most of all it’s fulfilling 😁

I get to work with some of the most fascinating women and to hopefully inspire young girls to come and work in Engineering too🔬

It’s got to the point people ask “where are the dogs!?” if they come into the office and they aren’t here 😅 I’m pretty sure people come in rather than call up, to see the dogs, but who could blame them🐶

The young people were so polite and engaged in the interviews and asked some brilliant questions.

🗒️🎨From Mock Interviews at Burnside College this morning to a tour of AkzoNobel this afternoon. It was great catching up with friends from the Advanced Manufacturing Forum & lovely helping students as always thanks to Angie Patterson Arthur Hodgson Alan Metcalfe for arranging the events & Akzo Nobel for the tour of your spotless facilities 🤩

🚛🚚WORR James attended the Commercial Vehicle show last week & its fair to say Electric Vehicles were the star of the show 🤩

The vehicles exhibited were spectacular and some of the more specialist electric vehicles were fascinating to learn about💭

On Wednesday morning we learnt about how Esh Group are going to refurbish our iconic Tyne Bridge from Darush Dodds at North of Tyne Area Review & AGM 👷🏽

Then we headed over to South Shields for the Advanced Manufacturing Forum AGM where Arthur Hodgson told us all about the exciting events we have coming up 😄

Thursday saw the Launch of Newcastle as a Living Wage City at St James Park 🎉 We were so proud to be able to sign the pledge as an SME and celebrate being a Living Wage Employer . It was brilliant to then have a tour of St James Park ⚽️

Well what a week we’ve had!

On Monday we got to watch Darush Dodds from Esh Group deliver their Building My Skills Programme that we are now delighted to be part of 📝

Tuesday morning began by giving Mock Interviews to Year 12 students at George Stephenson High School in partnership with which I always thoroughly enjoy. I was seriously impressed to hear how many of the students want to make a difference when they leave school and in one boys words “make the world a better place”. 🌏

On Tuesday afternoon I headed to Benfield School where I am the School’s Enterprise Advisor to take part in the Careers Fair. would have been proud of the fair as it was a massive success, and again I was inspired by how many young people want to have a career where they can make a difference 😄

This is going to have to be a two-parter because I’m all out of words and we aren’t even half way through the week! 😵‍💫 To be continued on the next post…😅

Well that was a busy but productive day! I started the day at George Stephenson High School giving Mock Interviews to year 12 students who were all excellent. I then headed over to Benfield School to participate in the careers fair which was super busy and the young people seemed to really enjoy it. I finished off with a meeting after work and a well earned coffee at Costa! All in a days work…😅 North Tyneside Learning Trust

🖤Last week we celebrated WORR Colin 🖤 After starting at WORR 35 years ago Colin hung up his welding mask and retired on Friday. We couldn’t be more proud of Colin and all of the fantastic work he has produced for WORR over the years, no doubt you’ll see alot of it around the North East. As sad as it is for us today not being able to say “Morning Colin!” like we do every Monday, we are so grateful for everything you have done and hope you are having a well earned lie in this morning. Enjoy your retirement Colin & don’t be a stranger you’ll always be part of Team WORR😄

Looking forward to delivering the Careerzone workshop at Longbenton High School this morning. I’ve finally got my husband involved 😄 thanks to North Tyneside Learning Trust for inviting us along it’s always good fun 👩🏼‍🏭👨🏽‍🏭 North East Chamber of Commerce North Tyneside Business Forum
