Along with Jen the amazing lead for TICE we met Jenna from the band Hunni who won this years The Voice and knows all about music videos! On Wednesday, to mark Black History Month, our school will be taking part in the Great Big Live Assembly. This is a 20-minute virtual assembly that will connect together schools across the country simultaneously.

The Great Big Live Assembly will celebrate the ways that schools up and down the UK are embracing diversity. It will honour Black individuals from history who continue to inspire us all. It will reinforce the importance of respecting those who are different from us and it will invite us all to play our part to make sure everybody feels welcome and valued.

The Great Big Live Assembly has been organised by the charity Sanctuary Foundation. Dr Krish Kandiah OBE, who leads the charity and will be hosting the assembly, has worked in child welfare for over 16 years. He is an inspirational communicator, children's author and diversity trainer and always leads the Assemblies in an engaging and sensitive way, alongside some familiar faces.

The Great Big Live Assembly will be interactive, informative and inspirational. It will encourage our young people to talk about the challenges and benefits of cultural diversity. We hope this will make a positive impact in our school and beyond.

If you would like to know more, please get in touch.

Year 10 interview experience event!

“It’s who you meet”

Did you know that pupils who can recall 4 or more employer engagement sessions at school on average earn 16% more.

On Wednesday our Year 10 pupils got the opportunity to take part in an interview experience morning. Pupils met a range of employers, had serval interviews, and received feedback to reflect on to support them to improve their interview techniques. This event supports our pupils to improve their confidence, improve decision making skills, improve communication skills and employability skills.

All of our pupils will take part in a number of high quality career events over the course of the year.

Some quotes from the day…

“Following on from this morning’s mock interviews, I just wanted to send a quick message to say how impressed I was by the students at Norham High School.”

“Every single one I spoke to was very engaged and had a great attitude towards the event. Although they hadn’t experience anything like this previously, they came across so well and put in a great effort with the interview.”

“They were an absolute credit to the school.”
