THE RESULTS MAY SHOCK YOU!
Supermarket verses locally grown ā¤µļø

To get the best tulip bloomsā€¦
Plant at the right time, they need a period of cold for best results, I planted 21st December.

Best bulb size, go as big as you can, these were 12+

Water in periods of dry weather, weā€™ve been spoilt rotten this winteršŸ˜‚

Other benefits when you choose to buy local are best selection of bloom, tightly closed in bud stage for best longevity, NO CHEMICALS involved, itā€™s a bug eat bug world here in the field šŸžšŸ›
Strong sturdy stems, huge flower heads, a variety of unusual colours not only on the outside but also inside the petals themselves.

Iā€™ll let you decideā€¦

A SNEAK PEAK!

My first 3 Salmon Van Eijk tulips have been pulled!!
I couldnā€™t resist and gifted themā€¦
Planted 21st December much later as the weather was mild, they needed a cool period to develop a beautiful flower.

Iā€™m hoping by the weekend theyā€™re ready for market, if youā€™re near Creaton, Guilsborough in Northampton youā€™re in for a treat!

CRAFTING COMPOST FOR A SUSTAINABLE TOMORROW

šŸŒ± Making compost is a process that involves layering organic materials and allowing them to decompose over time. Hereā€™s a basic guide to making compost:

šŸ 1. Select a dry, well-drained spot for your compost pile or bin. It should be easily accessible yet not too close to your home, as compost can attract insects and wildlife.

šŸšŸ‚2. Collect a mix of ā€œgreensā€ (nitrogen-rich materials like fruit and vegetable scraps, grass clippings, coffee grounds) and ā€œbrownsā€ (carbon-rich materials like dry leaves, straw, shredded paper, cardboard).

šŸ—‘ļø3. Start with a layer of browns at the bottom of your compost pile or bin to improve aeration and drainage. Alternate layers of greens and browns, aiming for a balance of roughly 3 parts browns to 1 part greens by volume.

šŸ’¦4. Keep the pile moist like a wrung-out sponge. Water it occasionally, especially during dry periods, to maintain proper moisture levels for decomposition.

šŸ“5. Turn the compost pile regularly to aerate it and speed up decomposition. This can be done with a pitchfork or by allowing air to circulate by piercing holes into a pvc plastic tube and insert into the centre of heap.

ā°6. Composting takes time. Depending on environmental conditions and the materials used, compost can be ready in a few months to a year. Itā€™s ready when itā€™s dark, crumbly, and has an earthy smell.

7. Once your compost is ready, use it to enrich soil in your garden, potted plants, or lawn. Itā€™s a nutrient-rich fertilizer that improves soil structure and water retention.

Remember, composting is a flexible process, and you can adjust it based on your available materials and space.

Start turning your waste into nutrient-rich soil for a greener tomorrow.
