We are looking for an artist to lead a community art project. This will be displayed on hoardings around the Abbey's 19th century stables whilst building work takes place. The artwork needs to celebrate the local community and history of the site.

A structured and relaxed workshop. In short, a wonderful way to spend a Saturday, with like-minded creatives, learning and developing skills in mosaic making including materials choices, cutting/shaping of ceramic and glass, construction, grouting and finishing ……. and all to the theme of the exuberant style and design of Antoni Gaudi. “Fun’, ‘Quirky’ and ‘Creative’ are just a few examples of comments from previous learners. Everything is provided (apart from lunch) including materials, tools and equipment, tea, coffee, biscuits, learning resources and examples. This workshop is suitable for beginners and learners with some experience. Participants will design and make their own mosaic to a backing board shape of their choice, so please don’t feel pressured to come up with a design beforehand as there will be lots of examples and resources on hand for you to use and be inspired by.
Bookings are strictly by full payment in advance at £75.00 per person, payable by cheque or bank transfer.

Would you like to show your artwork in our annual Art in the Park exhibition? We are now taking submissions!

The Art in the Park exhibition is going online this year - for the first time in its 60-year history! The exhibition, which started in 1961, is open to all artists across Northamptonshire.

Previous exhibitions have included artwork across many mediums; including watercolours, oils, prints, pastels and photographs and a wide range of styles, from figurative to abstract.

Last year’s Art in the Park unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic so we are delighted to be able to bring it back for 2021 and host the exhibition virtually on the museum’s new website – in a completely Covid-safe way.

Virtual Art in the Park will run from Saturday 1 May until Monday 31 May at: www.northamptonmuseums.com

Artists can submit their work to the exhibition using an online form at: https://www.northamptonmuseums.com/info/11/exhibitions/60/art-park-2020

The closing date for submissions is Saturday 24 April. Entrants will need to submit a high resolution photo of their work – photos under one megabyte will not be accepted.
