Where do I start? What a fantastic day!

Today was about community and how we can pull together for our children and ourselves, to be part of something bigger and brighter.

I watched children, parents, grandparents parade around the village. Villagers young and old coming out to line the route and wave. It made my heart fill. Dads pull the cart, children smiling. Children from the preschool, the primary school, the village, the new development all join together.

We danced (well some of us did 😂), we clapped, we ate lots and lots of sugar, played games and supported our organisations and children.

Well done Harpole 🥰

A BIG BIG thank you to everyone who donated, their time or items and prizes, who helped organise behind the scenes, set up, man stalls and tidy away x you are awesome and we couldn’t have done it without you xx

A special thank you to our royal party and this years Rose King and Queen. Weren’t they fabulous and their dancing has set the bar for future years.

Finally an enormous thank to Claire Davis who has worked tirelessly with our band of volunteers (I’m not going to name you as I’m so exhausted I’d be bound to forget someone) who made this day happen.

Home is where the start is: Communication counts

An online festival of fun and learning for the whole family!

The three-day event will run from Thursday 22 February to Saturday 24 February 2024, and you can book to attend as many or as few free sessions as you like.

During this fun family event, which will take place via Zoom and is aimed at parents and carers of under-fives, we will share information and advice about how you can support children’s learning and development at home through lots of exciting sessions for you and your children.

This year's event will focus on how you can support your child's communication and language development, and will include sessions on bilingualism, Makaton and music, movement, rhythm and rhyme ... and much, much more!

BAKING BAGS

One of the extra activities that make Harpole Preschool special is our Baking Bag Activity…..

We send home all the measured ingredients for you to bake with your little one, or even get dad or grandma to do it. The recipe is easy to follow and you won’t have to make them wait while you weigh everything out. On top of that the gingerbread recipe for this years Term 2 baking bag is delicious.

Baking is a great way for children to learn while doing something fun…. Physical, language and critical thinking are all supported along with maths and attention.

Do you want to be part of an Outstanding team? Rated Outstanding by Ofsted in September 2022 for the third time. Harpole Pre-School prides itself on developing each child in our care as we believe every child matters.


We are looking for individuals who can be contacted at sometimes short notice to cover staff sickness, holidays, and training events.

Shifts you may be asked to cover are: 9.00am - 1:15pm or 12.00 - 3.45pm (afternoons preferable)

You will be required to
• Support the existing team with any duties required
• Prepare and deliver snack to children
• Be a strong team player
• Be reliable
• Be passionate about enhancing children and parents experience throughout their time with Harpole Pre-School
• Ideally you will hold a level 3 in childcare, but this is not essential
• Pay £10.70 per hour


This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and does require a criminal records check. Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders which have been made against them.

About Our Pre-School

Harpole Pre-School was founded in 1966 and has built its reputation by providing outstanding childcare over many years. Ofsted judged the Pre-School practice ‘Outstanding’ in both May 2011, January 2015 and September 2022. We take great pride and emphasis on developing children in our care, and we believe each child deserves the opportunity to thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

We have an opportunity for a motivated, passionate, enthusiastic and caring individual who will share our values in supporting children’s growth and care. The position is for between 19.5 and 22 hours.

You should be able to:

• Maintain a stimulating and enjoyable environment for all children in the setting.
• Be flexible based on business needs.
• Be a Team Player
• Be Reliable
• Be Passionate to learn and to enhance children’s experience throughout their time with Harpole Pre-School.
• Ideally with a level three qualification in childcare or early years practice.
• Experience in a setting preferred.

It appears to play crazy golf I need ‘putters’ along with my golf balls 🤪. If anyone is prepared to loan me there’s or donate their old ones (is that even a thing) or have any contacts that might be prepared to sponsor us with the loan/hire of them would be most appreciated.

It was lovely to see so many parents at our art exhibition on Monday the first one in over 5 years!

The children had a lovely time last week getting ready for the coronation of King Charles III

The children enjoyed a wonderful world book day with some special guests 🥰
