Some lovely words about the first performance of In Contact from Emma Davies (Artist & curator)...
"Having followed the journey of the In Contact project from it's beginnings and knowing (and admiring) Elizabeth as an artist, I was excited to watch her perform with her print machine; and from the stunning 'Cloudbusting esq' poster promoting the event, I knew I was in for a treat.
The hours performance was beautifully choreographed and performed; with the machine and surrounding flags making for an impactful stage set. The programme and Q and A afterwards provided the context and message behind the work (Elizabeth's deep connection with the natural environment and passion for it's survival in relation to Climate Change), but the performance spoke for itself. It was gentle, tender yet passionate, portraying an artists connection with their art and the natural world. The resulting prints are stunning, but the experience of watching two artists working symbiotically (Elizabeth and the machine), whilst embodying the spirit of nature was an utter privilege on not one I will forget'

Red rose contact prints overlayed with woad ink screen-print through raffia. The weave of the nettle linen made more apparent by the printing and dying. Spore (mushroom) and hagstone prints still to come. So many layers to each piece.
After the performance phase of the project ends on Saturday, these prints will be exhibited (venue tbc) and one will be sacrificed to make the covers of our artists book. Incorporating the work produced during the community workshops at Sol Haven, Delapre, Umbrella Pavilion and The Lab.
This Saturday at Hideaway Wood Farm is your last chance to see the In Contact performance for now!
